Based on what I see... you create the muscle structure first, then "cover" it with the final layer representing the skin?

Thanks, however this was an exercise in studying the function and relationship of the human skeleton and muscle groups. We had a live model posing for us for 6 weeks. Normally I would reference the skeleton and muscles as structures underneath with an emphasis on active and relaxed muscles but still sculpt the figure from a surface level of the figure's skin. Clothing if any is added afterwards.

What a great learning experience!
Too often human forms look "wrong" because the sculptor doesn't fully understand what you have done with this project. I find it all so fascinating.
