Story by

Breeze and Sky walked slowly alongside the river that led up to the Green Hill Zone, their hands still interlocked. Sky was now utterly confused by the whole turn of events; glad though she was that Breeze seemed to like her back, she found the change in his demeanour rather sudden - rather odd - rather scary. It all seemed far too good to be true, and the young green vixen still couldn't bring herself to believe this was a dream. She sighed deeply as she remembered the last time she had tried to confess her feelings to Breeze; although she remembered how Muffy had tried to talk some sense into him, she still felt deeply hurt every time she recalled that moment, and today was no exception. As they wandered along the riverbank, she felt her hand slip away from Breeze's, but for once she didn't care.
But Breeze did; as Sky's hand slipped out of his gentle grasp, he looked over to her and noticed that she was now staring into space once again, a small tear in her eye.
"What's wrong, Sky?" he asked, a look of worry crossing his face.
"N-nothing," stammered Sky, quickly wiping the tear aside. "Just got something in my eye, I guess."
"Well if you're sure," replied Breeze, unconvinced, and reached out for Sky to hold his hand again if she so wished. But Sky barely seemed to notice.
Breeze was rather taken aback. For many years since they had first met, Sky had tried countless times to get him to notice her, but she hadn't stalked him like Amy Rose had done with his father Sonic so many times before he met Blaze, and she certainly hadn't held a grudge against him for what he had only just realised had qualified as ignoring her so much; and yet, halfway through the very chance she had to be with him, Sky seemed to be giving him the cold shoulder for some reason.
"Breeze......I don't understand," said Sky at last. "All this time you've acted as if I behaved like Aunt Amy, and now you're taking a walk with me alongside a river. Why are you acting this way when you didn't actually feel for me as I felt for you?"

Something tells me the best tribute to this picture is T.H.E (the hardest ever) by Will.i.am
