Description A little sketchy of a character from a work in progress. Still trying to figure out my style. Am I real, semi-real, manga? Some sort of mix that's mine? I'll get it sorted.

Absolutely amazing work on this. I really love how the eyes come out. They look like they were done in such a simple fashion and yet really draw in mine with their own details. The individual strands of hair, especially the ones intertwined (is that the correct term...?) parallel to her eyes are also beautifully done.

And now I am trying to watercolour it, but am having a hard time staying motivated. Ah well. C'est la Vie.

I know exactly how you feel as I find it difficult coming back to a piece months later, especially if I feel I've improved 9even slightly) since I originally started on it. It's also the same for concepts I keep re-drawing if I feel I didn't get it right first time, usually killing my enthusiasm for the concept.

This looks like utter crap compared to the actual art sitting on my table.

But Ana appreciates your praise all the same. She isn't used to compliments.

The necklace is actually a religious item. Ana here is a priestess of Erelieva, a goddess of compassion & healing.Β It's supposed to be a white (gold) lily on a gold disc. As to the splitting and all that... well... I just thought it looked pretty and that she'd love something like that.

Oh, heh... I just mean that the scanned version here looks like garbage compared to the actual art on paper that I can hold in my hands. Yellow-eye? I am offended for him!

As to other art, if you're hoping for more Ana, I am sorry to disappoint. This was a sort of one shot deal for her as I'm not all that captivated by her at present. That could change though. Maybe. Β

definitely semi-real style! and as you already knew it, I love your style so much~
and she is just amazing... I like how you manage to make her look beautiful (of course!) graceful, tough, but still have some kind of... innocence, almost childlike impression.
can't wait to see more artworks of her, especially the colored one (personally I imagine she have red hair is it true? LOL... just my personal taste)

and last but not least, welcome back!

She IS a red head, actually!

You know... maybe what I need to do to get into drawing your characters is to draw them this way first as a reference in order to "get to know them better"? It would certainly help me figure out how to convey Ben/Sebastian in my style better before I go and toss him into an interaction piece. Hmmm... time to ponder.

oh, thank you so much you still want to draw my Sebastian!
(I just read the news that BC got engaged... I am so happy because his fiance is so smart and beautiful (and not too young like Harper ) but I think little silly fangirl inside me just died :') )

LOL, wow she is? yeah I also think red is very suitable color for her, especially because she is so... full of life, I guess (oh, imagination...)
can't wait to see her in colors
I really hope to see more artworks from you in the future, Chris! especially because I really like your style

Yeah, I'm getting back into it, slowly. And as I said, doing a sketch of his face is further man practice that I can always use.

How do you ink?! Your line work is gorgeous and you clearly have a great sense of facial features.Β

No ink on this one, actually. This is just graphite. And thank you. I've been practicing.

Now I'm even more impressed. Your line work is so smooth, I definitely thought it was ink at first.

Yeah, I had to darken it a bit with CS2, otherwise it looks washed out. Not certain yet how to coax my scanner into giving me more lifelike quality.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. It's always appreciated.

*gasp* she's beautiful! And I love how much expression and character she has in her face, oh, it's fantastic, she looks kind of curious but also a little peeved

CMBaggs In reply to Sleyf [2014-10-31 01:03:05 +0000 UTC]

Why thank you! I was going for a curious and somewhat irritated countenance. She is a curious girl by nature and, when coupled with youthful naivety,Β often gets into trouble

She looks like a very interesting character, have you drawn her before?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CMBaggs In reply to Sleyf [2014-11-01 16:04:37 +0000 UTC]

No, never. She's a character in a writing project that I started this summer. TheΒ poor dear had quite the traumatic background. Β

Aww so we'll be seeing and reading more of her then?

CMBaggs In reply to Sleyf [2014-11-02 12:23:02 +0000 UTC]

I'm hoping so. Reading the Alverdale Tangle really has inspired me to put the written word out there (on dA).Β

Hooray! Are you enjoying it so far?

CMBaggs In reply to Sleyf [2014-11-03 19:13:45 +0000 UTC]

I am! It's been equal turns humorous and dramatic and always entertaining. I love how much art there is to compliment the written pieces and that everything is linked together so nicely.

Thanks! Well...sometimes I make mistakes in ordering of chapters, but I hope not to make too many!

A few, but not enough to ruin my enjoyment. No worries there.
