Description “My my, so many prospective heroes here to fight me” Akira said as he stepped over the crumpled remains of a group of AEGIS bots and looked around at the various 2nd and 3rd year students lined up to face him. “Tell me, are any of you strong?” he asked with a sadistic grin as he unleashed a psychic pulse that tore through the room.

The pulse did no physical damage, but contained a potent compulsion effect that would instill paralyzing fear in anyone without a strong enough will to endure it. Instantly most of the 2nd year students collapsed, either passing out or freezing up as fear overtook them. Even many of the 3rd years were either visibly shaken or incapacitated by the pulse. The general studies and business course students cowering at the opposite end of the room got spared as the wave dispersed enough to lose most of its potency by the time it hit them, but their weaker minds and bodies handled it poorly. Many of them passing out or screaming in terror as it washed over them.

Akira looked around at the still standing students and smiled with a mix of sadistic pleasure and the tiniest hint of admiration. “Well well, that’s more of you than I expected, I’m impressed, that bastard Shin has been raising a good bunch.” He said as he began to walk towards the defensive line of heroes. Behind him a boy with short blonde hair and a hero outfit with a cape and a shirt with the number 1 million in bold print plastered on it shot out of the ground. He threw a punch at the back of Akira’s head but froze inches away from making contact.

“A sneak attack hm? I didn’t see you move behind me, not half bad, but you’re slow” Akira said as he hurled the boy away with his power. The boy collided with a wall and passed through it as if it wasn’t even there, leaving behind an undamaged wall behind him.

“Intangibility huh?” Akira mused “how bothersome…” He tilted his head towards the class again as a huge pulse of force hurtled towards him, only to disperse as he hit it with a shockwave of his own using telekinetic force. Meanwhile several boulders hurtled towards him, only to be snatched out of the air by his power and crushed into rubble. Another boy with black hair and pointy ears turned his arm into several octopus-like tentacles that shot out to grab him, sprouting porcupine quills at the end to try and impale him.

The tentacles were suddenly severed by blades of compressed air as they neared Akira, but this didn’t seem to bother the boy much as the severed tentacles sprayed acidic blood at him.

“Just how many animal traits can this boy imitate?” Akira wondered as he snatched each droplet of acid out of the air and shot it back onto the boy to incapacitate him. “Maybe I’ll claim that one and mess with his head a bit to make him mine after this…”

The intangible boy shot out from the ground beneath Akira, going for an uppercut underneath his jaw. Akira tried to stop him with a telekinetic grab, but the boy activated his intangibility to phase through the energy trying to grab hold of him, deactivating it at precisely the right moment to land his blow.

Akira stumbled back a bit, partially from the punch, and partially from the sheer surprise at being struck. His amusement at the situation faded quickly and was replaced by fury as he reached out and grabbed the boy by the throat and glared into his eyes. The boy tried to phase out of Akira’s grip, but found himself unable to do so, his body not responding to his own will as the powerful psychic compelled him to remain solid.

“Sleep now” Akira commanded as he smashed the boy into the ground with a vicious psychic throw, using the impact and a powerful compulsion effect to knock out the annoying boy. More boulders hurtled towards him and were pulverized, and a boy with mechanical legs bounced around, kicking off the air at superhuman speeds to make his movements change direction unpredictably as he charged at Akira.

Akira read the boy’s mind and easily leaned to the side to dodge the boy’s eventual kick, then detached the prosthetics with precision psychic manipulations and hurled the boy away. He then located the man lifting boulders out of the ground and hurling them and hit the boy with a rock he’d just lifted up, knocking him out with ease.

Flames and lightning and ice converged on Akira, smashing into a psychic barrier and stopping short. Their producers getting lifted and smashed together shortly afterwards. One by one students attacked him with all manner of attacks. The user of the shockwave from earlier put up a decent fight, seeming to recognize that Akira’s telekinesis functioned like a sort of invisible energy that manipulated things. She zoomed around using shockwaves and made it difficult to grab hold of her, and launched powerful blasts at him that forced him to respond with a serious barrier each time, but even she eventually got clipped by projectiles he fired at her from the shattered pieces of rock, metal, and ice around him, and once she was hit once, it created an opening to grab her and slam her into the ground with enough force to keep her down.

A brilliant golden orb engulfed one boy dressed like a monk as he levitated into the air and formed 8 arms of golden energy from the orb, his hands pressed together in prayer like a Buddhist monk achieving enlightenment.

“Oh well aren’t you a flashy one?” Akira chuckled as the boy levitated closer, radiating golden light. His mirth faded as he saw the speed of the arms as they shot towards him. He quickly erected a psychic barrier to block them, and felt it crack under the impact of just three arms, quickly levitating himself and flying backwards to dodge the rest at they broke through his guard and crashed into the ground.

“He’s strong… I might need to take him seriously” Akira muttered as the boy hurled dozens of high speed punches at him with the arms. Akira flew around with his levitation, narrowly dodging or blocking each punch. With a grunt he erected a stronger barrier in front of himself that withstood all 8 fists crashing into it at once, the psychic energies swirling in front of him becoming so intense they became visible, appearing as distorted air and a faint purple tinge.

Akira focused on the air around the boy at several points, compressing the air and grinding it together to generate heat lightning through friction, then launching it at the orb surrounding the boy from multiple angles. The bolts struck the orb and made it waver but failed to break through the guard. The boy retracted his arms to attack again, but they flickered a bit as he did so, prompting Akira to grin as he realized the advantage he held here.

Grabbing hold of the sphere with his telekinesis, Akira slammed the boy into the ground as hard as he could, the impact temporarily flattening the sphere into a curved disc and shattering the ground in an explosion of debris. The eight arms burst out from the dust cloud at high speed as the boy’s sphere shrunk, dedicating more energy to the arms as they threw a flurry of strikes at Akira. None of the blows connected though, Akira dodged each one easily, using subtle psychic shoves to knock them just far enough off course to make dodging easy.

The blows began slowing down after a minute or two of futile attacks, eventually slowing to a stop as the boy’s sphere began to dim and sink back to the ground. Once it touched the ground it dissipated, and the boy fell to the ground, gasping for air.

“I’ll hand it to you kid, you’re not half-bad. A few years out in the field and you’d probably force out my full power” Akira said as he picked up the boy and brought him closer, “you’d have made a very powerful hero, but now you’ll make an even more powerful villain. I’m claiming you.”

Akira’s eyes began to glow as he forced the boy’s open with his powers, he was capable of mental manipulation through more intricate alterations over time, but hypnosis through his eyes was his preferred method of taking control immediately. As the boy’s eyes opened though Akira spat a curse, the eyes were white and clouded with blindness. The boy couldn’t see a thing, so the hypnosis wouldn’t work.

“Ugh, what a hassle, I suppose I’ll have you sleep and take my time with you later then” Akira sighed as he compelled the boy to pass out and dropped him to the ground. There were only a handful of students still standing now, all of them backing away slowly as Akira walked forward. Their will to fight was wavering now that they’d seen what had presumably been their ace in the hole be defeated.

Akira shook his head and waved his hand, seizing each of the remaining students and compelling them to pass out. He’d had his fun with these defenders now, weaklings who barely had the courage to stand up to him anymore weren’t worth playing with. It was time to begin the slaughter. Akira slowly approached the huddled masses of defenseless students, casually batting away a few attacks some of them got the courage to launch his way.

A purple haired student who looked like he hadn’t combed his hair in his entire life stepped out from the group and stood in front of them as if to protect them. “Who are you? Why are you doing this?” he asked, “we’re not heroes, a villain like you has no reason to target us.”
Akira shrugged “you’re easy targets to slaughter, see I need to draw your headmaster out somehow…” he said, then felt an odd sensation come over him, an assault on his mind, cutting off his control over his body. His body froze for an instant, then unfroze as he pushed back against the invading quirk with his own.

The boy’s face shifted to relief as Akira froze, then frustration and fear as it broke free. Akira chuckled “nice try kid, but your quirk isn’t nearly strong enough to hold me. A for effort though.”

With a snap of his fingers, the boy collapsed, and Akira moved his attention to the others, then paused. He sensed something, several hostile presences had just arrived. He whirled around and unleashed a psychic shove as a boy in a black cloak materialized behind him, throwing the boy into the air. The boy vanished before hitting the wall, but Akira tracked his presence to where he appeared in the crowd to try and conceal himself.

Vines erupted from the ground around Akira, trying to bind him, but compressed air blades cut them down instantly, then converged to pulverize a boulder shooting at him at high speed, he tracked the flight path of the rock to another boy by the wall, standing by a girl with an enlarged arm that was now shrinking back down to normal size. The boy’s black hair and facial structure seemed familiar, but Akira had no time to ponder it, as a bullet made of light collided with the back of his head and knocked him over, making him fall on his face, blood splattering on the floor around him.

Akira lay still for a minute, letting the sniper who’d shot him believe he’d been killed while he scanned his surroundings to determine their location. The bullet had connected with him right on target, and he’d been blindsided by the sudden attack, feeling no hostile emotions prior to the shot. Complete suppression of one’s presence in the moments leading up to a shot was a difficult feat achievable only by master snipers. Luckily for him he constantly had bulletproof psychic barriers set up covering various vital points a sniper could strike, just in case. The bullet had pierced his skin and drawn blood, but stopped before penetrating his skull. He wasn’t planning on taking his chances with a second shot by showing his hand early. His scan soon picked up on the sniper’s location. A young girl, impossibly young for the level of skill she’d displayed in that shot, but she was unmistakably the sniper.

Akira levitated himself back off the ground and grabbed the girl with telekinesis, pulling her from her perch in the window and drawing her in close. “You’re dangerous, I didn’t sense you until it was too late. Against anyone else that’d have been a killing blow.” He said as he began crushing the girl in his grip. She cried out in pain as her bones began to crack.

An arrow stopped just short of Akira’s neck, not even coming close to connecting before he snatched it out of the air. “You, on the other hand, are not.” He said as he yanked the archer from her perch and slammed her into the ground. The archer got to her feet quickly, putting away the bow and charging at him. She was fast, energy sparking around her body, but nowhere near fast enough to close the distance between them before he could stop her, so he wasn’t sure why she was bothering. Then the arrow exploded with a blinding light and deafening boom. Akira was forced to drop the sniper in surprise, and the archer closed the distance before his senses returned, landing a solid punch into his chest and sending him tumbling.

“Ngh, a cheap trick.” Akira grumbled as he got back to his feet and grabbed the archer with his powers holding her in place as he picked up the sniper again. “Still, that was a good punch, I’ll give you that much.”

“Tch, shut up, you probably didn’t even feel it through your barriers. I can tell when my punches do damage, don’t pretend you’re actually hurt to placate me” the archer spat.

Akira grinned “oh you saw through my act, what a pity, I was trying to be nice.” He said as he began crushing both girls. A large plant burst from the ground behind him, a vine with a bulb at the end that opened up to fire dagger-like seeds at him. It was easily stopped, but it split his attention to three targets as he held both girls and repelled the stream of projectiles. The boy in the cloak materialized behind him again, trying for a punch before getting frozen in place as well.

Akira sneered as he began to crush the boy as well. Splitting his psychic power between 4 targets was difficult, but well within his power. If they thought they could best him simply by attacking from multiple angles they had another thing coming. Then five more plants like the first emerged around him and added their attacks to the mix, upping the number to 9. Now keeping everyone under control was becoming a struggle. A shadow fell over him, and he looked up to see a massive foot descending towards him. A tenth target, and a difficult one to stop at that.

Akira closed his eyes and snarled, “enough of this.” In an instant all 6 plants were cut down, the boy in the cloak had his limbs broken, the sniper and archer were slammed into the ground with enough force to snap their necks, and the girl above him was hurled into the wall. “I’m done playing around with you brats. Just how many of you do I need to crush before Shin will come out of hiding and face me?” he snapped.

The archer from before got back to her feet with a grunt, throwing a punch and unleashing a shockwave at him that he easily blocked. He picked her up and slammed her into the ground again, but to no effect. He tried hitting her with heat lightning, but again had no effect on the girl. She retaliated by unleashing a bolt of electricity back at him, which he blocked as well.

“You’re an annoying one, but you lack the capacity to harm me. So clearly you must have come here to stall for time.” Akira said as he pulled the girl close and grabbed her head with his hand “let’s take a look at your master plan hm?”

Akira read the girl’s mind, her name was Serena, her quirk was energy absorption and control, which explained how she was enduring his attacks. Her goal was to delay him long enough for her classmates to retrieve the pro-hero Eraserhead to nullify his quirk and take him down.

“Hm, not a bad plan girl,” he said as he released her “but futile, that man is no more capable of stopping me than you are.”

“Nonsense, you’re strong, but you’ll be helpless without your quirk same as anyone else” Serena spat

“My quirk isn’t so easily erased, I did my research on that one. He emits an energy from his eyes that suppresses the quirk of whoever he’s looking directly at. All one needs to do is block the energy” Akira said “difficult, yes, but quite possible when you’re ready for it and know what to look for.”

Serena’s defiant glare didn’t falter, but Akira’s unfazed confidence was definitely getting to her, making her worry that her plan might fail after all. In truth, he was mostly bluffing. It was true he could shield himself from Eraserhead, but the man was excellent at stealth and surprise attacks. In a straight up fight, blocking him was easy, but it was never that simple. These students had bought a significant amount of time now, so that ambush could come at any time.

“Now then, where is he…” Akira mused as he reached out with his senses outside of the gymnasium. He could sense several enemies running to his location, as well as a battle raging on in a hallway not far away from them. Odds were that Eraserhead was part of the moving group, but either way, best to play it safe and cutting off both groups and this room. With a wave of his hand, he triggered cave ins at both ends of the hallway both groups were in, trapping them, then barricaded the gymnasium doors and windows with debris to ensure nobody could get in.

“Heh, you said your goal was to fight Shin, you’ll need to leave an opening for him to get in.” Serena said

“You might believe that, but you’d be incorrect in that assumption” Akira said nonchalantly “that man isn’t restricted by such things. Now then, let’s get to work provoking him shall we? Girl, take your bow and shoot an explosive arrow into that crowd of students.”

Serena felt her body moving on its own, beyond her control as she drew her bow and nocked an arrow. “Bastard, you can do it yourself! Don’t make me do your dirty work!” She shouted at him, but Akira only laughed.

“A student being forced to kill other students, that’ll really grind Shin’s gears.” Akira chuckled, “he’s going to pay for every ounce of misery he’s caused me, starting by watching his precious students suffer.”

“Knock it off!” Serena shouted as she fired the arrow “NO!”

An explosion rocked the building, and Serena closed her eyes to avoid looking at the damage her attack had caused, but she hear no screams of pain, no cries of terror or anguish. She felt the psychic forces holding her fade away and drop her to the ground, and opened her eyes to see what was going on.

In front of her was a swirling mass of black thunderclouds dancing around a man with brown hair, a vest, and glasses. The room’s ambiance turned pitch black as the light seemed to fade almost entirely in his presence. The ground trembled as his power radiated from his body, shaking the very foundations of the building. Sparks of lightning danced around between the clouds swirling around him as his radiating power heated up the air and created heat lightning. The very air around him seemed to distort from the heat and pressure it was put under simply through his presence within it. Serena stared at the appearance of the normally cheery and warm headmaster and felt her blood turn to ice in her veins.

There’d been rumors around UA about this from the upperclassmen, mostly 3rd years, about the headmaster’s temper. The rumors varied wildly, as nobody who’d seen Shin’s temper firsthand was willing to give a personal account of the experience. Some said he became a berserker who would beat students into submission, some said his rage was more of a slow burning thing, with more elaborate punishments being handed down as a result. Some said he became a monster, some said his appearance didn’t change in the slightest. Nobody could agree on anything other than that whatever the case was, it was terrifying enough that nobody dared invoke his wrath more than once. There were no delinquent students getting sent to the headmaster’s office weekly in UA, once was always enough. His temper had become a sort of urban legend, but Serena hadn’t really believed the rumors until now.

Because right now, there was no doubt about it… Shin was furious.
