Description Name: Becklespinax altispinax
Meaning: high-spined [discoverer Samuel Husband] Beckles's spines
Time: Early Cretaceous, c. 140-136 million years ago
Place: Southeast England
Size: unknown due to poor remains, but probably about 6-8 m (20-26 ft) long
Type of Dinosaur: tetanuran theropod, probably a carcharodontosaur carnosaur (large, 'landshark' carnivorous dinosaur)

Like many British dinosaurs discovered in the early days of dinosaur palaeontology in the mid-1800s, Becklespinax is known from poor remains and has a confusing taxonomic history. Fossils found in Spain with similar features, however, give a better idea of how Becklespinax might have looked.
