This is, of course, Christian Bale as Batman.
I did this one particularly for my Batman-obsessed friend sakewinee . :'D
And this was my first time using charcoal. I love charcoal now. So much.
I used a little graphite for around his eye and the lip/chin area, but for the most part this was all charcoal.Materials used:
- Canson sketch paper
- General's charcoal pencils
- General's graphite pencils
- Kneaded eraser

And Batman wasn't that hard to draw in charcoal, surprisingly. 
For the mid-tones, I took the charcoal and lightly put it on the paper and then blended with a tissue (getting the various grays that you see here in the shading) until I gradually worked up to the white highlights of his suit.
I then just took my finger and blended the solid black with the lighter grays to get the smooth transition between values.
I hope that made sense. xD
And I don't have any tutorials. Sorry! :c That is a good idea for me to work on, though.

Aw. D: Well, what do you use to shade with when using charcoal? I found that Q-tips and tissues work best. I use a kneaded eraser to highlight any areas if needed. (The kneaded eraser was seriously my best friend during this picture, haha.) If you need to go from solid, jet-black to a lighter shade, you can always use your fingers to make the solid black blend in with the lighter shades so it looks more natural.
I have no clue if that makes sense, but I tried. xD I need to post a video tutorial or something. o-o
