Ichigo jumps, but lands before the quadlaser get to him. Jumping is useless after all! So he takes a step to the right, not a flash step, a regular step. The laser passes by and Rukia is relieved. Then the laser bounces from the wall and tags Rukia from behind. Now she is on the Moon, and I don't think she's dressed for the the Lunar cold.
