30min. spitpaint, Photoshop CS6. There's a ton of quick shortcuts in this piece, a lot of the rock bits started off as brush marks and then smudged down and around, with some of the highlight bits thrown around hehe. I think I might use this for a card I've been working on, just couldn't quit get a satisfying grasp on it but this piece has given me some ideas. It's a pretty simple, easy bit of work so we'll see

It helps quite a bit but I use it a bit oddly, maybe? I have this odd scatter brush that throws out an array of rectangles, which when used with the Smudge tool creates some weird patterns. Once those are down I can go back in with this other brush tip I use to smooth out some order out of the chaos hehe.
There's a fair amount of painting but the smudge tool helps me create effects and arrive at solutions pretty well and quick, which is great when it's a 30min. timed spitpaint
