Alrighty!! With 20 extra days for the contest, this is what I managed to come up with...

I painted the main figures with watercolor, then scanned them into photoshop an stuff. Yeahhhh. (I found out the hard way that the smaller things get, the harder they are to paint. Hence, Russia looks pretty good, but the others...)

For some reason they all behaved well in Photoshop EXCEPT for Lithuania, whom I had accidentally given the complexion of Cuba (coughcholocough) and lots of beauty marks, but I fixed him up somehow.

Also, to my amusement and slight horror, I realized that I had the same "map in the background" idea as another entry...
Great minds think alike, I guess?
