I learned something new: Rhode Island was one of the first states-or colonies, for that matter, to meet Japan. Rhode Island has had relationships with this country since the 1600's! Another surprising fact is that the "black ships" led by Commodore Parry set off from Newport, Rhode Island (This was in the 1800's).durrhurr rhody is special <3
