Description Man, I missed this game. I stopped playing Bravely Default after I just couldn't win this super hard boss battle against Ominas, Mephilia, Yulyana and Qada. This game is so hard sometimes, and that's one reason why I love it x3

Agnès' Ninja design is so cool :3

Argh, this is making me refresh my longing for Bravely Second.. it has to come out soon.

Yes, it's coming out in December in Japan, and then we have to wait for it to get localized... my only hope is that Square Enix might be working on the localization as we speak, so it might not take very long for it to come out in the west...

... I think it should be the other way around this time! I CANNOT survive without Bravely Something. I'm re-playing it right now. Oh, I wanted to ask; who is your favorite asterisk bearer? Not for their powers/ abilities, but as a character?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cocosnowlo In reply to Lilia-DeRosso [2014-11-05 19:21:29 +0000 UTC]

Haha

Oh, I love talking about favorite characters x3 Especially from Bravely Default because every single character is kinda deep and has their own history and all. And except for the final boss you can't say "this one's evil and this one's good".
I think my favorite among the asterisk bearers is Victor S. Court. I love him, he's smart and cool (maybe a bit obsessed but still). Second place would be Lord DeRosso because he's just awesome. I have to admit I also kinda like DeRosa although he's the biggest creepy a**hole I know xD It's actually pretty hard to decide, all characters are so cool. x3 So who's your favorite Asterisk bearer?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lilia-DeRosso In reply to cocosnowlo [2014-11-05 19:48:49 +0000 UTC]

omg, I love talking about characters too! That's one of the reasons my Mom gets annoyed at me - I just keep talking about them till she tells me I won't get to play if I keep going on. XD
My favorite is Lord DeRosso. (hence my username) I used to like Swordmaster Nobutsuna Kamiizumi, but then when Lord DeRosso appeared it was out of question. First of all, I always liked vampires, and second... he is pretty much my ideal. He is wise, powerful, dark with a tragic past, and I admire his skill with a brush, which I never saw but can imagine. And I love his voice, as well as his manner of speech. And I also like the way he is dressed - he could probably walk around that way in real life some time ago. (Ok, sorry - I can go on for ages describing what I like about him. I'm obsessed.)
For second place, I have Victor and Kamiizumi tied. They are both smart, and just overall amazing.
And yes, I agree, I like DeRosa too, although for some time I felt that he is a parody of Lord DeRosso. I mean, even their attacks are similar! And their names are close, too...

Oh, about the final boss, I felt so sorry for Airy! I don't remember if it was in the real or fake ending, but she said she hated the way everything was about Agnes, that Airy wasn't as important. I know she's evil, but I still felt bad for her...
And Ouroboros is an evil monster. HOW DARE HE CAUSE LORD DEROSSO'S DEATH!

cocosnowlo In reply to Lilia-DeRosso [2014-11-05 19:57:42 +0000 UTC]

No it's ok, your description of DeRosso is perfect x33 Haha, I would tell my mom everything too but I know she's not interested in anything that involves games. She has absolutely no idea how machines and devices work and her interests are like three centuries old
So I feel happy whenever I can shout out all my thoughts about games and fictional characters.

Oops, I gotta admit I haven't even finished the game yet and I didn't know DeRosso dies But I'm almost through, just the final bosses. Finally! Did you need like 125 hours for one runas well?? Insane! But that also shows how much content the game has and even after that much time the game is still fun, that's amazing. And also one more reason why this game is amazing

Omg, I so sorry! I didn't realize you didn't finish the game... I hope I didn't spoil it for you. I mean, I suspected he would die, I don't know...
126:54:38 is the amount of time it took me for the first run. On the second I'm up to about 208 hours.
I agree, this game is amazing.Β  I hope that the second one is just as good, maybe better!

No problem, you couldn't have known! I never told you so it's my fault isn't it? xD

Woah, why is the second one that much longer? O.O Sadly, I don't have too much time for playing much anymore. So I'm not sure if I will start another run. But I can't wait for Bravely Second! I usually try not to look at spoilers but I've seen the new characters and I like them :3

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lilia-DeRosso In reply to cocosnowlo [2014-11-06 01:39:10 +0000 UTC]

The second one I re-watched the events I don't know how many times. I watched the whole game in three languages - English, Japanese, and Spanish. XD
I also put the event viewer on as background music when I drew stuff. That's one of the reasons. The other one is that I would pause the battles to sketch the screen, and I'm not very fast at drawing.

And I saw the future characters too! Who's your favorite? I like Magnolia and Jean. And Jean's hair, OMG, it's like: I want to sit there and pet it for the rest of my life....

P.S: I don't have much time during the day either, and my parents let me play for only 30 min a day anyways, so I play at night. One time played it until I realized it was 4 A.M. XD... I'm an idiot.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cocosnowlo In reply to Lilia-DeRosso [2014-11-06 11:22:28 +0000 UTC]

Hm, I should do that too, drawing from screenshots is very good practice :3

Jean is already my favorite x3

Haha, I come home from work around 8 pm and then I have to decide if I want to go to bed earlier or do other things (and being tired the next day T.T). I usually chose the second option so the weekends are usually the time I can play video games and stuff. It must be annoying to have these rules because of your parents T.T

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lilia-DeRosso In reply to cocosnowlo [2014-11-06 17:55:18 +0000 UTC]

Drawing from screenshots is VERY fun, but it can be frustrating. And you know what is the most frustrating thing? I can draw characters that I don't like as much better than the ones I'm obsessed with! I can draw Artemia fairly well, but my Lord DeRosso drawings?... disaster.

I like Jean because it's not possible not to. And I like Magnolia because she was my ' ray of hope'Β  that Bravely Second will come out. She supported me through my hangover. XD

It is annoying to have the rules, but I guess I'm not really being fair, because I do have the whole day after I come home from school to do practically anything I want, and it's my choice to sit there and read a bunch of textbooks. x3 Still, my parents make me go to bed at 8, and only recently did I manage to persuade them that I can stay up until 8:30... and they wouldn't let me post my drawings if I told them I was on here. Also I don't have unrestricted internet access, or a phone. But otherwise they aren't very strict, so I guess it's a good thing...
So they really are okay, especially if I find a way around the rules. (like playing when I'm supposed to be in bed.)

cocosnowlo In reply to Lilia-DeRosso [2014-11-06 23:29:56 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I know what you mean, there are characters I love so much but I just can't draw them xD

Magnolia was the first part of Bravely Second we saw, wasn't she? I guess she really was our ray of hope back then. I'm just glad the game has become popular so they make the sequel x3

Woah 8 pm is insane for someone your age. Last time I remember being forced to sleep so early was when I was like 8 years old O.O All the restrictions you have are nothing I have ever experienced, so it sounds weird to me, sorry. But if your parents aren't that strict in other things it can't be that bad.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lilia-DeRosso In reply to cocosnowlo [2014-11-07 01:24:40 +0000 UTC]

Exactly! It annoys me. A lot. Hey, you should draw Lord DeRosso! You are much better than me, so your version of him would probably look great.

I know, right? I hope that they will make the sequel without spoiling any of the characters that we already had... I would be very angry if they changed the voice actors, for instance.

I know it sounds weird, but I'm weird too, so we balance each other out. x3 And also, they will get me practically anything I want as long as it is reasonable and I can give an explanation for it. The only problem is with video games, because my parents are software engineers who write video games themselves, so they know the 'psychology' behind the games.... like the way I want the sequel for BD. Companies pretty much are parasites, but I prefer not to think about that part.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cocosnowlo In reply to Lilia-DeRosso [2014-11-07 18:58:45 +0000 UTC]

I will definitely draw him sometime xD My problem with drawing is that I barely have time lately so I have to choose the thing I want to draw most... Oh and thanks for the compliment btw, I'm doing my best to improve ;3

It would be annoying if they spoiled us as much as with the new Pokemon game. I think Pokemon fans already know the entire game before it comes out... -.-

Oh wow, your parents are software engineers O.O My parents are pretty lame compared to that.
And I don't think you're weird ;D
By the way, what IS the psychology behind games? I mean, I can figure but it would be nice to hear an expert explaining

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lilia-DeRosso In reply to cocosnowlo [2014-11-08 02:34:13 +0000 UTC]

Mmm... It must be terrible not to have enough time. I, on the other hand, have a lot of time, especially now that I'm sick and am staying at home, but I can't draw good enough to satisfy myself, so I end up just doing a bunch of incomplete drawings instead of one finished.

I agree... even though I don't play Pokemon. I decided that I won't read any more stuff about Bravely Second until I get it - I don't want to spoil the story for myself, or find out something I don't need to know yet. XD

(Don't call me an expert I barely know anything)
But, anyways, the major problem is that video games play on human weaknesses. Like the way I know a lot of people (myself included) who love Jean's hair. I mean, I just want to touch it every time I see it. This was done on purpose - the psychologists in Square Enix know what people like, and target those points. It wouldn't be bad, but then these games turn into obsessions. Like right now I am obsessed with BD. I want to get the sequel, and I constantly keep drawing the characters.Β  This is only bad because of the age group - the game is directed at teenagers, and it does work for teenagers. However, adults like my parents DON'T get obsessed, because it's out of their age group.

The more dangerous part is the fact that these games adjust your sense of Black and White, as Edea would put it. XD For example, take Lord DeRosso. They took a negative character - a vampire - and turned him into a force of good, rather than evil. This way, boundaries between right and wrong are moved, until everything is a gray blur. A child would find vampires and werewolves scary, yet many teens are crazy about them. And also, the way the game constantly makes inappropriate jokes and allusions. When I started playing, I was repulsed by Ringabel's manner. And the way Sage Yulyana greets Agnes is terrible too. But near the end, I find that I am not as disgusted anymore - I have gotten used to it. If I was not consious of this, I could very well start to behave that way myself. Remember how Fiorde Rosa said ; a fine way to bring down a nation? Well, it's pretty much what is happening here. People become degraded, loosing their purity and innocence because of games such as BD. Although they would encounter it at some point later in their life, it is not guaranteed that they would. Here, they have no chance of avoiding it.

I know it sounds paranoid, but it's true. And it's probably very confusing - I'm not good at explaining things.

cocosnowlo In reply to kradmousey [2014-11-03 23:06:17 +0000 UTC]

Doesn't really work in this battle. Or maybe it could but it would still be difficult. I used the Spiritmaster-Stillness trick where your Spiritmaster is the slowest in your party but faster than the enemy. That means every second turn your damage dealers can attack full force and before the enemy can attack you have casted Stillness again Works quite well in most battles.

Haha, that battle took me a while. Kill Quada first so he won't keep neutralizing your Spiritmaster. I had to use a Friend Summon lol. After that Spiritmaster's Stillness and Enigma make it easy (with Enigma, Dark Nebula won't hurt your party, and with a Blood Blade equipped and Conjuration buffs, you can do 9999 damage to most enemies with every Dark Nebula without damaging your party or Dark Knight).

Great artwork btw, just makes it even harder to wait for Bravely Second!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cocosnowlo In reply to Doomslicer [2014-11-03 16:17:29 +0000 UTC]

I was using the Stillness tactic where your Spiritmaster is the slowest in the team but still faster than the enemy. The others were all major damage dealers and every second turn they attacked before the Spiritmaster casted Stillness again. Qada was the last one I killed though because my whole team had BP recovery as an ability so that his attacks gave me BP I could defeat the enemy without losing any HP. I could have saved my MP too but I used that in order to raise my attack etc.

I'm so excited for Bravely Second too x3

Doomslicer In reply to cocosnowlo [2014-11-03 23:07:52 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that works
Enigma is necessary to my Dark Nebula strategy so I have to neutralize him first.

cocosnowlo In reply to Doomslicer [2014-11-04 14:28:55 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, all strategies are different I guess so the way you beat the boss is also quite different. I should try some new tactics...

sakuratorte [2014-11-03 03:20:32 +0000 UTC]

Umm, if it's way toooo hard it's unwinnable *coughevenwithbravelysecond*, just lower the difficulty setting ^^ (i played this on Normal btw, don't want to get too stressed by playing on hard hahaha.)
I haven't reach the "4-mages-battle" part btw; seems like alot of ppl are having trouble with that battle.. ><

I love Agnes as a Ninja too - (everybody views Agnes as BD's version of Yuna or Aerith or Rosa ><) and it's nice for her for having a different role in teh game XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cocosnowlo In reply to sakuratorte [2014-11-03 12:49:42 +0000 UTC]

I always play on Normal, that's not really the problem xD In the end, I could only win by using the old spiritmaster trick. (It was the first time I had to use tricks to win a battle). I don't know if you're familiar with this tactic. You can use a spiritmaster's ability "Stillness" which neutralizes all damage to you AND to the enemy. In order to be able to attack you just have to be faster than the enemy and the spiritmaster of your group has to be the slowest in your party. So you can attack every second turn and the enemy can't If you add the ability BP recovery for everyone the battle is a piece of cake.
But I think without this trick it's nearly impossible to win this. At least this battle really demands a certain tactic.

Yeah, she is kind of similar to the FF ladies, especially to Yuna. She has an important task and the others are guarding her. But as you said, there's more to her than that and that's one reason why I like her :3

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

sakuratorte In reply to cocosnowlo [2014-11-04 02:30:39 +0000 UTC]

Ah, that stillness tactic! You attack and then using the stillness move for nullifying enemy's attack XD. Someone once shared this trick, but i kinda forgot it somehow.
Usually i use stillness for buying time (mainly for healing and buffing when mai party is in critical HP)
Yet for avoiding damage, i use Valkyrie's Jump move ><

For some battles, yes it can be hard without a Spiritmaster (or someone with Spiritism ability as his/her 2nd command ><)
Thanks for the tips, now i want to experiment with support abilities more XD. The experiment, job combination and use of tactics, so that's why this game is fun ><

Anyway, the 'spiritual prequel' of BD, FF 4 Heroes is haaard XD. Some of the late-game bosses are unforgiving XD

and.. adding the fact that she is a priestess/shrine maiden/vestal/whatever
It's really nice knowing that she isn't locked to certain jobs/roles. (but her base stats speaks that she is suited for caster/healer - she has great INT and MND) >o<

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cocosnowlo In reply to sakuratorte [2014-11-04 14:27:15 +0000 UTC]

I almost never use any Valkyrie abilities to be honest, I never considered them very useful xD But I guess every job class has its strong point. My tactic is just always based on strength, I guess. For the normal battles that's quite useful so I can finish them in the first round without getting hit (for the bonuses ;D) Maybe I should try some new techniques...

Since 4 heroes of light only got rather bad feedback I never wanted to buy it

I always use her for healing, I think she is the only one in my party who has mastered the White mage job.. Which isn't really smart but I always had a certain task for each of my party members. Agnes got White Mage, Spiritmaster and Salve-Maker. Ringabel was my black mage for the most part, mastering Arcanist and Time Mage in addition. Tiz was the strong one in the party: Monk, Ranger and Pirate. And Edea was my "tank" and mastered Knight, Templar and Sword Master first. Well, at the beginning you have to distribute the jobs, it doesn't matter that much later though because mastering jobs is much easier and faster. For the most important abilities, everyone had to master Ranger and Red Mage (It think they have the most useful abilities)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

sakuratorte In reply to cocosnowlo [2014-11-06 04:23:32 +0000 UTC]

That's the point XD. In some RPGs, early-game job classes can become useless as you progress through the game (especially the 'initial/tutorial' job such as Freelancer, Novice, etc.), but not in BD. At least some early game jobs has some useful support abilities. XD

Despite the bad feedbacks, the game itself was quite fun IMO (although the graphics are not so good for a Nintendo DS game..)

Yup, i also use the classic FF balanced setup at the beginning of the game, 2 fighters and 2 mages ><
Mastering jobs is much faster in chapter 4 and 5.. there's some monster that give you a lot of JP XDD.
...yet i use Agnes (and Tiz) for my main hitter XD
Red mages can stock up BP when certain conditions met, yes? ><
i don't use rangers, because i'm not a big fan of bows and arrows >o<

Yeah especially the Freelancer JP+ ability is so important D:

I haven't read much negative feedback to be honest. Just the usual "ugh you always do the same in this game" or something but i think square enix was able to repeat certain parts and still make it exciting. I think the graphics aren't too bad. I've seen worse..

Bows are so strong in this game! Rangers make even more damage than monks O.O
