Words Below:
Oscar came to the party the sorority was hosting. He did not take the rumors he heard seriously. When he knocked on the door, Harper was there to greet him. She explained most of the others were performing something down in the basement. In the meantime, she would show him around the sorority house.
Oscar followed Harper as she took him upstairs and showed him some of their rooms. When she got to her room, there was a large aquarium inside. Different species of fish were swimming around inside. It seemed rather strange for such a large aquarium to be there, but he did not question it.
Harper encouraged Oscar so go over and talk to the fish. Somewhat hesitantly, he walked over to the fish and said, "Hello." The fish did not appear to even acknowledge his presence. They just swam around and around in the aquarium. Watching the fish swimming around and around in the aquarium had a calming effect on him.
The world outside the aquarium faded away. All Oscar could see besides himself was the aquarium and the first swimming around and around inside it. The fish were completely ignoring him and yet he felt like he could talk to them without being judged. He did not have much experience talking to people so he imagined talking to fish would help him increase his communication skills.
As Oscar watched the fish, changes happened to his body. His hair grew down past his shoulders, face and body hair completely disappeared, breasts grew on him, and he developed other female characteristics as well. Finally his genitals changed leaving him, or her, completely female. Despite the changes happening all over her body, she did not even notice. Her thoughts were focused on the fish in the aquarium.
One day the fish might leave the aquarium and enter the ocean. The word ocean seemed familiar to her but she could not quite place it. Then she recalled Ocean was her name. It seemed strange for her to forget her own name but that was how calming the fish in the aquarium had been.
With a higher and softer voice, Ocean continued to talk to her fish. She remembered doing that regularly for years. The fish had given her comfort when no one else would. Although they were not the same fish she had when she was a little girl, they were a relaxing constant. No matter how chaotic her life became, her fish were there to help calm her.
Ocean asked the fish how their day had been, what they were currently doing, and what they thought her chances were of getting into the sorority. The fish did not pay any attention to her, but she knew how to get their attention. She got out the fish food and put a few pinches of it inside the tank. That got their attention.
The fish swam up to grab the food. Ocean smiled at them. This time the fish actually seemed to notice her. They turned in her direction as if to thank her for the food she had just given them. Satisfied that she had finally been noticed by another living thing, she took a deep breath and turned her attention back to the world outside the aquarium.
Harper had already gone back downstairs so Ocean went down to look for her. When she found her, she was informed that she had been accepted into the sorority. Ocean was delighted, but she was not surprised. After all, her aquarium was already there.
