Words Below:

Cary was walking through the forest one evening when he encountered a vast meadow he had never seen before.  The meadow contained thousands of large, strange looking flowers.  They were not even remotely similar to any type of flower he could identify.  They had white petals with a black center, looked like they were made of crystal, and felt like rose petals.  Despite the fading light, they appeared to glow and glowed even brighter as he approached.

A gentle breeze blew through the meadow allowing Cary to catch a quick whiff of their scent.  They reminded him of perfume.  Intrigued by their scent, he picked up one of the flowers and put it up to his nose.  It gave off a pleasant smell that made him smile.  It also made him sleepy but he was not concerned.  The smell was too pleasant for him to remove the flower from his nose.

Smiling Cary drifted off to sleep.  While he was sleeping he had a colorful and vivid dream.  In his dream, he was a girl.  As she walked around, all the plants and animals responded to her presence.  The animals introduced themselves to her one at a time and then scampered about as if she was a friend they had known for years.

A man came up to her and offered her some flowers.  Smiling, Carrie took the flowers and smelled them.  She reacted as if this was someone she had known for years but she did not mind.  After all this was a dream.  She thanked the man for his gift and they walked through the meadow hand in hand.  As she looked at him, all her cares and worries melted away.

Then Carrie woke up.  Immediately she sat upright.  The flower she had been holding had blown away while she was asleep.  Then she realized something else was different.  It seemed strange that she had not noticed it before.  Her entire body and even her clothes had changed into the woman she had been in her dream.

The plants and animals did not react to her presence, except sometimes to flee from her as they would with any other human.  The flowers still gave off a pleasant scent but they no longer made her drowsy.  In fact, they were making her more awake.  Carrie felt refreshed and full of energy.  She danced in the meadow as she felt her dress blowing in the breeze.

As Carrie headed home, she thought about all the things she had experienced.  She doubted the man she had dreamt about was real.  Like the friendly animals, he was someone found only in the dream world.  She did not mind.  She would make due with what she had just like anyone else would.  There might even be someone real out there for her.  All she had to do was find him.
