Panting, you practically clawed your way to the castle shop. For some reason, a little clown-man-thing completely and utterly destroyed both your health and your food. Hopefully the shopkeeper was here…

“Hello, is anyone…”

You trailed off, seeing the weird man you saw in a ‘puzzle’ room. He… wasn’t really that good at them, but you played along to the best of your ability, taking longer than necessary to complete them.

“Ah, young hero! Welcome to mine humble abode! And what mayeth I help thou with?”

“Yeah, uh, do you have any food? Or a band-aid? Or SOMETHING that can stop the pain?”

He winced, looking over your battered body.

“I, er, may have something back here… Just hold on a moment.”

You barely noticed his lack of over-the-top wording until he came back with a pile of what appeared to be food. Although it looked… a little odd.

You must have been staring at him awkwardly, as he cleared his throat, looking away from you.

“Well, it’s not much to look at, but it’s something I cooked earlier for La- er, for an acquaintance of mine.”

Raising an eyebrow, but deciding not to question it further, you eagerly gulped down the scraps. It tasted of salsa… not bad.

After stifling a burp, you looked up at him.

“Thank you for the food. How much do I owe you?”

“Owe me? Oh no, don’t worry about that, my hero. Just stop the King, and we’ll consider it even. But don’t lose to him on purpose just to get more of the food.”

You chuckled, handing him some cash anyway.

“I’ll do my best. Um, will I… see you again? You’re a pretty nice guy when you’re not trying to trap me.”

He snickered at your comment, his features softening.

“Maybe you will.”
