Description

I hinted at Star and Citrine being redesigned in their Valentine's Day piece, and I finally got the design how I want them!
I'll have Citrine done soon, and then after that I'll work on Maw-sit-sit. Hopefully they look as good as Star does, lol.

Backstory:

"Star gems" are a defective strain that occurs when the gem is exposed to too much injector radiation during the growing process. It causes the gem to have the opposite of the ability it's known for. In the case of Sapphires, a Star Sapphire would not be able to look into the future, but instead they would be able to read the past. They can see what happened both recently and long ago, and can see probable causes to events; quite a useful skill.

Unfortunately, no matter how useful it is, the fact that it stems from defectiveness makes it severely looked down upon in the cut-throat society that is Homeworld. All Star gems are shattered once they emerge...or at least, they're supposed to be. Our Star Sapphire managed to run away before technicians came to inspect her.

Off-colored, outcast, and alone, she roamed the old caverns left by Homeworld on her native colony. She wandered aimlessly, just surviving, until she met a Quartz soldier doing the same thing as her...just surviving. They decided they might as well survive together. They managed to steal a small Homeworld vessel and flew to the newest colony, Earth, where their chances of being discovered were significantly lower. But soon, Rose Quartz and her Crystal Gems took the settlement by storm, and they joined the rebellion against Homeworld's cruelty.
