I see you are from Ohio. I lived in Cincinnati after high school, my first child was born there in 1971. moved around and found myself back home working the coal mines. Just within the last year photography bit me hard. I love it and go from elation to deflation within its spell. There is little color here now, but the promise of spring is slowly budding. I just have to learn how to select the proper settings to shoot better photos..

I have been here for about 10 years. My wifes family is here, I am from Colorado originally. But have lived all over. I did have some uncles who worked in the coal mines in KY. They were from around the Central City area. I can't recall any of the other towns in the area.
Spring should bring you a lot of photo opportunitues indeed! I have been a photographer, amateur , for many years, but I am feeling very much like a beginer with this dslr that I have. I am slowly learning the settings and what it can do. Everytime I learn something it's like I'm a little kid all over again.

Same here. I am now trying to learn to
get the setting right on several of my
cameras features to do what i wont it to do.
Rather than depend on auto shoot.

I really don't know anything about that one. Are you using just the manual that came with it or have you picked up another source? I have found that the manuals that come with the camera are difficult to learn from.
