I DID NOT DRAW THIS. I only coloured it. Original line work is here: [link] You can see a bunch of more awesome takes on this image here: [link]This is not something I usually do. I don't think anything in my gallery is like this.
I gave her white hair to recall a powdered wig. I don't know if that was popular during the Baroque period, but I like it.
In keeping with what I DO know about the baroque period, I tried to include a lot of extraneous details and light. I looked up several baroque paintings and constructed a palette based on them.

There are loads of tutorials that can give you direction with digital painting, but the best advice I've ever gotten was stay away from the airbrush. It can be a useful tool, but it's better to master working with solid brushes first.
I'm still working on that myself, but I think it's good advice. I also used to use the smudge tool, which was great, but it tends to muddy the colours. To make an image pop, you need your colours to stand out.

I don't think so. I like my colour choices better (although really, you just beat me to red), but I think your technique is inarguably superior.
