Okay, so, the mostly silent redhead sisters were with their parents and may have been not quite yet old enough for me, but it is fun to imagine hair this gorgeous on someone more appropriate for a scrawny Scotsman in a fancy metal can.

This was taken in the fall of last year on Day 2 of the nation's largest Scottish Highland Games & Clan Gathering festival in America in Pleasanton, CA. My only complaint is that it's sort of grown to intermingle some artifacts and souvenirs from Irish culture as well…which is exactly why I posted this picture so close to St. Patrick's Day in the first place: to say, "I'm more of a St. Andy's than a St. Paddy's kind of guy." I do not like it when people mix up the two cultures, especially since there are six or seven times as many Americans with some amount of Irish ancestry as there are Americans with some amount of Scottish ancestry (not counting those that identify as "Scots-Irish!") I think this is probably because of that old tradition of Irish Catholics multiplying rapidly. Still, like the U.S. Marine Corps, my people are "the few, the proud."
