Description An old photo of Sailing Ship Balclutha, San Francisco, CA.

Built in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1886 for some San Francisco grain trading and named for a town in southern New Zealand (which was actually named for another Gaelic phrase), Charles Connell & Company's prize possession has been recognized as a museum since 1954 and a registered historic landmark since 1976.  You can see her any time at SF's Maritime National Historic Park in all her 4,100 tons of displacement.
