(Follow-up)
And don't be afraid to really go nuts with it! Drop-shadows paired with Gaussian blur look pretty freakin' sweet. You can also experiment with the blur tool to blend the ponies in with the depth of field. That also helps to create that subtle glow you see on bare skin in the sunlight.

Constructive Criticism:
I'm noticing a common problem with a lot of these "PIRL" works. Though you do manage your shadows and highlights very well, they aren't always as realistic as they could be. For example, in many of them I notice the shadow taking a completely different angle than the natural light in the photo would suggest.
From now on, would recommend taking a picture of someone else, or even one of the actual pony toys for reference to see how the shadows interact with the contours of pony.
