Description The Tudors Season 3

King Henry VIII is urged by his council to look for a suitable bride to remarry after the death of his third wife, Queen Jane Seymour (from complications of childbirth).  Hans Holbein is sent by King Henry VIII to make a portrait of one of the possible candidates, Princess Christina of Denmark.

Princess Christina of Denmark was the niece of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor (who was the nephew to King Henry VIII's first wife, Queen Catherine of Aragon) and opposed the match because of what happened to his first three wives: Catherine of Aragon's seemingly suspicious death (a black growth was found on her heart and was believed to have been poisoned when in fact it was very likely from heart cancer), Anne Boleyn's execution for her purported crimes of high treason, adultery and incest and Jane Seymour's death from childbed fever.

Princess Christina of Denmark: Is it so strange that The King's Majesty is in so little space rid of his three Queens? And I suspect that the first, my Great Aunt was poisoned. The second, innocently put to death and the third lost for lack of care in her childbed.  Frankly, sir if I had two heads, then one would be at His Majesty's service. Alas, I only have this one.

Hans Holbein: Madam, let me plead my master's better qualities that appeals to your heart.

Princess Christina of Denmark: No! You must not labor any further for I shall not fix my heart that way. Unless, of course the Emperor commands me to.
