Well, he's a boy - they tend to have bigger feet than girls (no offence - it's an observation of real life).

Though admittedly, they ARE a bit bigger than you'd expect.

Funny how you have an OC named Yagura - there's a canon character by that name was well. Not to say that it don't happen in real life, but it's still pretty funny how you picked it. Would it have something to do with the meaning of the name, mayhap?

I will say it once, I'll say it a million times - Miyo is ADORABLE! And in general, I actually rather LIKE how plain she is compared to most girls in "Naruto" - it's a refreshing change from the over-sexualised, fanservicy nature of females in the canon series (even Sakura was subjected to it often enough, despite being... undeveloped). Miyo is no ravishing beauty, but she's still be quite gorgeous in a modest way. I truly hope this doesn't change when she grows older.

Excellent drawing there, look forward to more (of this, and of story) when you get the time.

God-sPEED!

Ack, I have to check back here more often. Darn it, I feel like a terrible person... Yeah. Sorry for the atrociously late response, and excuse me while I go bang my head on the wall for my lack of communication skills.

Yagura's name was not actually chosen by me. When I need characters, I like to scour the Naruto wiki (which is dead useful, by the way) for characters that already exist as opposed to simply creating an OC from scratch. Not that I don't like creating OCs—which is pretty darn fun in itself—but there's something really cool about connecting things that are already extant in the franchise. It's like, I dunno, putting together pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. As opposed to cutting out pieces from a cardboard box and engineering them to fit the missing spaces.

...I have a feeling that what I just said made no sense whatsoever. (I suck at metaphors.)

But to the point. Ihara Yagura is based on this guy , a filler character who, conveniently enough, never actually appeared. Which means I get to take the liberty of creating his personality and all that jazz. And if the selection of Yagura seems a bit arbitrary to you, well, that's because it is. (sheepish) The main reason I chose him is because his age fits perfectly with Team Gai's generation. Er, Guy. Gai? Or something. I never know what to call that guy.

(Bad pun intended, sadly enough…)

Also—well said there, about the plainness. It goes for Shiho and Yagura, too; after all, Team 6 was never intended to be a full-out, frontal assault team. That's part of why the "cool" colors are such a fundamental part in their design (Miyo = green, Shiho = blue, Yagura = purple) as opposed to the louder colors of Team 7. Well, except for Sasuke. But then again, it's Sasuke.

Don't worry too much, I've been there too.

I wasn't aware of this character (I'm behind on the anime since I can't afford to get all the episodes, plus other dedications regarding my time), but it's pretty interesting how you chose to use him. For all the anime's faults, it DOES do a good job of creating several interesting characters here and there - I'm partial to the Kamizaru Clan (the family of the First Tsuchikage - they really deserve more than to be mere filler characters - and especially to Kurama Yakumo, the crippled red-head with a genjutsu specialisation.

I personally think that your Team 6 is being given an original, creative field, not to mention rarely-used sensei. Whilst I couldn't personally give a toss about Aoba due to his lack of significance or characterisation, I'll give you points for originality. Not only is an intelligence-gathering (was that it? I don't remember clearly...) team actually well-suited to the characters (both Miyo and Shiho simply wouldn't work best as frontal-fighters), but it's rarely done in general. It gives you something unique to work with.

As for Gai... well, I know it's intended to be Mighty Guy, but while it's funny to the Japanese, it sounds so jaw-droppingly STUPID in English that pretty much everyone just prefers to pretend that even the English dub didn't do it that way. So we just call him Maito Gai - the "messed-up" Engrish pronounciation just feels more appropriate. It helps that we rarely hear his surname, so it's easy to do it that way.

Yeah, OCs can be both troublesome (kehehe...) AND workable. One thing to consider is that sometimes we NEED them, if we don't have an already-established character in a certain spot. For instance, Naruto's graduating class has hardly anyone outside the Rookie 9 named, let alone characterised. I mean, there's Tobio - the guy who made the (in)famous Naru/Sasu kiss happen - and Ami and her cohorts Fuki and Kasumi, in Sakura and Ino's flashback to kunoichi class (who don't even appear in Episode 3, making me believe they may have been drop-outs), and that's it. If for instance I wanted to have an extra team passing that year in a fanfic, then if I don't want to use any of them I MUST create 3 OCs to fill the full 12-genin requirement for 4 teams (if there are any other named students, please let me know - I can't think of any, and the List-redirect feature doesn't work for me).

But whatever. I'm tempted right now to go into a rant about Kishimoto's flawed writing (particularly the romance - the canon execution of Naru/Hina and Sasu/Saku, which look to be the official couples, annoys me to no end), but since that would be off-topic, I'm going to stop here.

If you want to continue this discussion, PM me on FF.Net - I have the same username as I do here.
