I mean, I think we should have expected Sci-Twi to be way she was. A socially awkward teen with little to no friends in a very competitive school environment, the only ones close to her were her family, Cadance and Spike, the non-talking dog. Like pony Twilight if she never went to Ponyville and Spike not as her only friend/assistant.
