i like this a lot, can i ask you what you think of the Canon 8800F as a scanner? i'm looking to buy one for middle format negative scanning... any tips or bad things about this scanner you're willing to tell me about?

i think it's a very good scanner for its money. it's just...a flatbed scanner will never ever be as good as a coolscan from nikon for example. in terms of detail and also, let's say you underexpose a negative...you could rescue it much better with a coolscan than with a flatbed scanner like canoscan, but then again, coolscans are so much more expensive....

well, from the sample scans that i have seen i think the resolution will not be a problem for me, and the colours are always going to be limited by the computer system that i use anyway... so i thank you for your advice and opinion... i'll get one.

just point your camera towards people, if they look at you, just be self-confident and act like it's no special deal here and they will ignore you
