This sketch I did for Motor City was my attempt to make Scarlett look like a bad-ass...but also (in my own way) show her girly lovey side

I personally like her with Snake-Eyes, because it's not the norm. The stereotype for any universe is for the leader/main character to get the girl with all his charisma and charming looks.
Snake-Eyes has neither of those traits, with his introvert personality, hidden face, and broken vocal chords. But having all of those characteristics rule out any possibility of him and Scarlett having merely a "fling," so what they have can be seen as love in its purest form.
Of course, some people prefer her with Duke. They are either too close-minded or simply like the pairing. I'm okay with the latter and not so much with the former.
Sorry for the rant. XD I just had to. I recently discovered G.I. Joe.

All it does is create tension between people where there didn’t need to be any. Most people will just end up hating Duke and he doesn’t need to be hated. The reason why people will hate him is because it’s just not within Snake Eyes character to be mien in any way to either of them at all. You can get tension between characters by other means… although this calls for actual writing and the characters acting like adults and not idiotic teenagers. Snake Eyes and Scarlett’s relationship doesn’t even call for a love triangle to go on. For one thing Duke was only created for the 80’s cartoon show, even though they didn’t need to (they already had such characters like Hawk) and Scarlett was already interested in Snake Eyes since there first day when joining G.I. Joe.
Most love triangles are no-brainers and are predictable as hell. They always show the female being dumb and incompetent on knowing what the right choice is. They do nothing for the story and they’re a complete waste of time from the real important parts of the story and plot.

People who write love triangles have lost any or all creativity and imagination and have resorted to such cliche crap because they have no talent. That's why so many soap operas and terribly films like Twilight have that going on

Okay, yes indeed, the story device of a love triangle can be used for lame, that's for sure. We see it all the time in movies, comics, tv - but, there are plenty of examples wonderful uses of the love triangle in fiction. Like...
Han, Luke, and Leia in Star Wars
Benjamin, Mrs. Robinson, and Elaine in The Graduate
Starbuck, Lee, and Anders from Battlestar Galactica
...and many, many more!
Love Triangles happen all the time in real life. That's why they resonate with us so well as an audience for women and men.
So, the G.I. Joe love triangle aside (which could be total shit, I frankly don't know enough about it) a love triangle is in many ways is a very natural, if not painful thing that some of us have to go through. It's human, and it resonates with us on a base level.
It's too bad that the writers may have ruined something for Snake-Eyes and Scarlett. But sadly that's one of the many frustrations for stories that never, ever, end. You have to keep coming up with crazy stuff to freshen up a story that really should have finished long ago.
The best thing you can do is come up with a cannon in your head and be happy with it. Otherwise you end up frustrated and angry all the time at the crap that's been done to you're favorite characters.
Find a way to be zen about it. Because being angry about this stuff (that's really just there to keep selling merchandise) is a waste of time and energy. Take it from someone who's an x-men fan. I know!
