Archie Comics writer/artist Dan Parent brings that unique Archie look to the Man of Steel in this MCCC piece I got just today.

In all honesty, there's not much to say about this one, as the sketch went smoothly and Mr. Parent took to drawing the Fleischer Superman (or rather, the NEW FRONTIER Superman, being a huge Darwyn Cooke fan) like a duck to water. The real meat behind this piece was the conversation we had about how Archie Comics has become a refuge for industry legends who've been unceremoniously booted from the major publishers (Terry Austin, Al Milgrom, and Norm Breyfogle, to name a few). It was an enlightening, yet sad conversation, and a sobering reminder of the state of the comics industry as a whole.

Be that as it may, this sketch is a whole lot of fun. I'd like to get more superheroes done in Archie style as time goes on.
