Description

Another anteater from my course (I made many!) This one’s a scratchboard piece. It was supposed to just be a sort of “warm up” assignment to become more familiar with the medium, but it was actually chosen for the course show over my auk scratchboard.

Scratchboards are a lot of fun, and I would recommend them to anyone who likes working in ink and focusing on values.

Nosey friend!

Love how you captured the way the hair kinda clumps up. Such a small detail, but it does a lot for the realism

Lovely work with the ink there! Those details must be a pain to fill in.

Thanks Musa!
Not a pain at all, actually! Since this is on clayboard (blank white scratchboard), what I did was lay down a silhouette of an anteater in ink first and then scratch out the details with a sharp tool It's pretty fun!

That's interesting. How long did it take you?

Hmmmm I worked on it over the course of a few days, but the elapsed time must have been, like, 6 hours max? I think?
