Description For Hyrotrioskjan 's Spec Challenge  Spec Challenge #5Hi Guys!
Long time no see
I know there is still the fourth Spec challenge video waiting to be released but I waited the last days for a final contribution I weren't able to not wait on.
Because all this takes way longer than anybody could expect, we start now already the next challenge. I hope you are excited!
Ok titel of the next challenge is:
DOMESTICATED UNENLAGIINAE
I think the title says it all. During the next two weeks you will have the opportunity to create possible races of domesticated dromaeosaur.
I chose three species which would be used as basis for your new breeds:
Buitreraptor
Austroraptor
Rahonavis
*Note that a new paper on Buitreraptor shows that the animal had

Humanity's history with domestication indicates the first thing we'd do when domesticating anything is to breed away the features that make it scary and breed in neotenic features to make it cuter to us. Long pointy claws are a no, as are long pointed muzzles full of teeth; gotta get rid of those features ASAP. After that it's almost a free-for-all as to what we'd breed it for. In this case, we bred this particular specimen to be a cute and fluffy companion animal, like a silky chicken or a maltese dog.
We like short faces (because we have flat faces) and big eyes, we really like fluffy things and shortened, squatter features; they remind us of babies.
There's no telling what kind of health defects this animal has, with its mutated anatomy this drastically different from it's wild state. We probably bred away as much of its predatory instincts as possible, though, so it probably doesn't suffer too much...

That moment when you realize that essentially, we humans breed creatures into the 'chibi' look. We chibi-fy everything we domesticate.

It's true! We do!

In fact, we like the 'chibi' look for the same reason; it reminds us of babies and triggers the same "awwwww how cuuuute!" areas in our brains that babies do.

And now

I'm put in the perspective that perhaps when we look at chibi art
we should think "now there's a domesticated-bred version of a xxxx"

Most definitely!
It's at least half the size of its wild counterpart.

And then close the registry and be an ass about how inbred your animals are. Sounds legit.

"It is functional! It helps them smell the quarry better! It even gives them a superior grip on the prey!"

"The extra maintenance and hand-feeding is just part of the breed! It's the most functional shape for the job!"
