Description An assignment piece for my Illustration 2 class. The objective was to create a painting for a venue (or company or event) as if it were to go on the back of a t-shirt. I chose, of course, the San Francisco Zoo.
These are two hornbill species represented at the zoo; an Indian hornbill (yellow) and a Southern ground hornbill (red).

I had to paint this using a particular technique where color buildup at the edges of shapes would form "lines" (that's what you see up there; none of those "lines" are pencil lines- it's all color buildup) and for that reason, a stained glass look was recommended.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the medium on this is watercolor.

I got a B on this!
