Castiel managed to dodge the attack, but it was clear that he’d been just barely fast enough to do so. He was slowing down more and more as the seconds and minutes ticked by.

Meanwhile, Naomi and the others looked on. Some with amusement, others neutral, and still others fearful.

Despite its apparent futility, Castiel kept talking to Dean through the connection. Because he knew Dean wouldn’t do this by his own free will. He had to keep trying.

And he did. He continued on and on until, at last, he fumbled. He wasn’t able to move fast enough anymore, and he fell after another block, landing on his back with a rustle and a thud.

"Finish him," Naomi called. Leaning forward slightly.

And all Castiel could say aloud at that moment, a sorrowful look in his eyes, was a quiet, “Dean…”

In their thoughts, however, was more.

'Alright,' he said in his head, words equally as sad as his expression. He looked down for a moment. 'Alright. I give. No more of this. If this is what you want… so be it. I won't resist any longer. If this is really, truly your doing, then no matter what you choose…' The angel looked up again, straight into his hunter's eyes. 'I understand. …I love you, Dean.'

Dean faultered. “Shut up…” He mumbled it with a hiss. These were the first true words he could think of for himself other than by what Naomi wanted him to say. He had her telling him to kill and Castiel showing nothing but undying love and devotion. Dean couldn’t hesitate. He was on Castiel then, straddling his hips and without a shadow of a doubt he gripped the tattered remains of his shirt and Dean proceeded to punch him, his fist connecting evenly with the angel’s jaw. ‘This…I.....I don’t know what I want ’ he answered painfully through the connection. ‘Everything hurts’ as he said it the markings began to burn into his skin. ‘Every last bit of me burns!’ He kept punching. Out loud his voice was a yell. “GET OUT OF MY HEAD”

Castiel’s head lolled to the side, and he let out a small groan. ‘I know. I didn’t know what I wanted for a long time, either. But now I do. I want you to have what you deserve. Happiness, freedom… no more pain…’ He reached a shaking hand up as far as he could towards Dean’s face, but the stream of punches kept him from making it all the way. Instead, he ended up clutching at his chest. There was a weak and stuttering wave of energy as Castiel tried to alleviate the pain Dean was suffering.

"No. No! Finish this! KILL HIM!" Naomi roared. She could sense her hold slipping. This needed to end. Now.

The power surge was strong enough that it caused Dean to stop. He was rearing back for one more punch and that's when
the touch from Cas stunned him. He lifted his head and at the same time his hand tenderly cupped Castiel's face and slowly proceeded to curl his fingers around his hand. Dean's eyes were no longer human for they shown brightly with the power of grace and in a blink of an eye he was turning. Suddenly, then, a wing sprouted from his left shoulder, blue mist like but piercing as he turned his gaze to Naomi. “I SAID SHUT UP!!”. The markings were glowing burning hot into his skin.

At the touch, he moved his head back up. When he saw what happened to Dean, Castiel smiled. It was small, barely even there at all unless you looked closely, but it was genuine. Then his hand went limp, and he blinked slowly. He was… so tired… The wing they’d broken and dislocated throbbed painfully, and for a brief moment he winced. It was all he could do to keep himself  tied to his vessel. He was almost too exhausted for even that simple task. But he held on. He needed to.

Naomi let out a strangely distressed sound as she felt her tether to Dean’s mind snap. Several of the angels there turned their heads towards her. A few actually appeared shocked.

"You don’t want to obey, Winchester?" she seethed. "FINE. We’ll destroy you both."

She advanced forward, others of the Dominion following her lead.

But suddenly another angel jumped at her, pulling her down from behind. And as they both struggled to stand, the other angel had enough time to look up to Dean and say “Go, get out of here! Both of you!” before the rest of the angels within took action, one way or another.

And then all hell broke loose.

Dean gripped Cas tight, his hand burning hot like the rest of his markings as he gripped his left shoulder. “Dude sprout you other wing!” His own spread proudly as he looked upon Castiel, the markings glowing brilliantly.

The chaos unfolded around them, the sound of high pitched shrieks and explosions of light accompanying it. It was hard to even think. But when the hand found his shoulder, Castiel found some of his strength returning. His own marks lit up, beneath the tattered shirt and dried blood. Straightening up, he put his arm around Dean. And though the other hung limp, his right wing unfurled easily.

"Together then," he said aloud.

Without a single thought they were off. Dean gave no mind to what was happening behind them now. His only thought was escape and get the hell out of and away from Naomi as quickly and as far as possible. ‘Im sorry’ he said through the connection. It was all he could say for they were flying faster than anything he had ever dreamed of before.
