Yeah, it's a huge car, with a huge engine as well.

At the time, the Torino was considered a mid-sized car, believe it or not. The Galaxie and it's upscale brethren were considered full sized cars.

The Torino was also a Muslce car in he 70's if I'm right. And the musclecars produced from 1970-1971 were bigger in size then the muscle cars mid 60's.
For Europeans, these cars were huge compared to the cars we had in 1960-1975.

The muscle car era, for all intents and purposes, ran from 1964 to 1971, when emissions rules killed the high performance engines. That and the insurance companies were charging outrageous amounts of money to insure them. The cars built in 1970-71 weren't much bigger than their predecessors. They were a few inches longer and wider, but were still mid-sized cars. The full sized cars, such as the Galaxie, LTD, Buick Electra, Pontiac Bonneville and such were much larger and heavier. The Cadillacs and Lincolns of the time were downright huge. The emphasis changed from all out performance to luxury and style, with performance dropping off rapidly in the ensuing years. Some people refer to the '70's as the "Malaise Era" as far as performance goes. The cars were stylish, but engine performance was mediocre at best. Even the Corvette topped out at about 250 horsepower for a big block engine. Once the technology caught up in the mid-80's, performance began to return. I was in Europe in 1970 for a family vacation and saw that the cars were much smaller than what was typical in the US. I remember, when we were in Rome, seeing a 1969 Plymouth Fury coupe in a parking lot. The car was impossible to miss. It was almost literally twice the size of the European cars. Stuck out like a sore thumb.

Excellent shot . I love how you made the Torino stand out from the rest of the picture. Looking through the windshield made me laugh a bit , but (I think) that can be disregarded. Again, great job

What a gorgeous car, always been fond of the older designs from before the bubble roof design become the norm.
