Allegiance: Miras Kingdom

Personality:

Attentive| determined | earnest | kind hearted | modest | reasonable |tries to avoid fights and arguments if possible | neither especially intelligent nor stupid | looks sometimes gloomy | restrained before you get to know him better | easily influenced

Cahan is an attentive and determined Person. Although he appears earnest and indifferent, he has a kind heart and is concerned with the well being of others. He is therefore very dependable and keen on fullfilling the expectations others put in him. Despite that, he is very private and modest and dislikes being involved into any kind of confrontation. What he values the most is a close-knit family and his biggest wish is to build one of his own sometime.

History:

Cahan was born to a human woman and a half-elven soldier who met in Belport, the woman’s hometown while his father was stationed there. They moved to Cantor, his father’s birth place, when he retired and took over his family’s farm. Little was special or exciting about Cahan’s childhood, but there is one very vivid memory at the age of three: When his sister was born. From Celia’s first step on, Cahan spent most of his time with her, preferring her company to that of other children. This way his sister became his best friend as they went through thick and thin.

It was always his parents wish for Cahan to go to the military just like his father, but Cahan did not seem to be military meat. He wasn’t tall or very strong and though they waited and waited Cahan just wouldn’t grow enough. It was strange since everyone had expected Cahan to become like his father as they looked quite alike. Instead of enrolling, he kept on selling their products from the farm on the market in Cantor. It was his sister who comforted and encouraged him to go on instead of secluding himself. She on the other hand was often quarrelling with other kids, mostly boys who sometimes made fun of her and her brother. It was therefore on Cahan to calm his hot-headed sister and keep her out of trouble.

After a massive growth spurt around the age of fifteen Cahan looked even more slender and weak. Military service seemed even more unlikely since the boy didn’t have any fighting skills to offer. Eventually Cahan’s mother came up with the idea to send the boy to her brother who had moved to Valsk in the meantime to open up a blacksmith workshop. Cahan had never seen that uncle before and had only heard his mother talk about him whenever a letter of his arrived. Although reluctant at first, he agreed to the idea since he did not want to disappoint his parents or Celia, who was excited about what sounded like a real adventure and would have given her right hand to swap places with him. His sister’s cheery attitude didn’t make it any easier to part with his family but a few weeks and several more letters from his uncle later, Cahan was on his way to Valsk.

Upon arrival, he experienced his first shock: it was way too cold. So he was glad when he entered the workshop as it was really warm there due to the hearth. His uncle was unexpectedly nice and taught him as much as possible. And there was the second shock: The work was way too heavy. Cahan felt exhausted every evening and his body ached.
But there were also benefits. The tall boy was gaining more muscles and steadily becoming sturdier. As if wanting to become a giant, he went through another little growth spurt and now could look down at his uncles bold head.

Everything was going fine. He was improving his skills and steadily taking over more and more work, as well as more important tasks in the workshop until he was even allowed to smith weapons for regular customers – a thing his uncle wouldn’t allow in the beginning. There was just one thing Cahan tried to ignore. His slightly pointy ears did not make him popular with the people of Valsk and some showed clear mistrust. But since Cahan was staying inside mostly anyway (it was warmer), he could talk himself into not caring about this despite the fact of actually feeling hurt.

When he was 20, suddenly his sister stood in the doorway, visiting her beloved brother. Cahan was really surprised. Not only by the visit, but also because she was wearing a uniform, indicating that she had accomplished in what Cahan had failed. She was part of  Miras Royal Military. Cahan wasn’t jealous, though. He was proud of his sister just like the rest of the family.

After an old injury in his uncle’s arm had inflamed again, Cahan took over most of the work. He also decided to stay in Valsk instead of returning home which his parents accepted surprisingly quickly. His uncle was now mostly working as a supervisor and handling everything concerning direct contact with customers. His sister Celia visited him at every occasion her now strictly regulated life offered. Furthermore he held and still holds tight contact with his family and writes letters every week (or every two weeks, depending on how much has happened) even when he’s very busy.

The latest occurrences didn’t reach Cahan’s ears until everything was almost over as he tended to shut himself in the workshop when there was a lot to do. But when he heard his uncle talk to a customer about the dreadful things happening in Belport and - he later found out - also in Amedra, he was worried sick about his sister who had to protect the kingdom together with the other soldiers. All these worries were lifted off of him when Celia visited after the deadlock, having volunteered to help with repairs in Belport. This is also the reason why Cahan now travels to Belport whenever work is not piling up and tries his best to help with repair and rebuilding since he feels responsibility for the birth town of his mother and uncle.

Additional info:

-Cahan is really tall, so he doesn’t look as burly as he actually is.

-his workplace is often clutterd and looks like a mess, but it seems like there is a mysterious kind of order as Cahan finds everything he needs immediately

-he has a (secret) dream to found his own little family

-doesn’t feel very “elvish”; to him his father is the half-elf and Cahan is actually looking up to him a bit even now, even though his uncle has taken the place of a role model

-haircut often hides the pointy ears a bit, this was not intended, but just a side effect. Cahan would not try to hide or deny his origins despite the mistrust and dismissive glances by some Valski. (The only thing where he doesn't let people manipulate him whilst usually getting influenced by others easily)

-he is not a man of many words. People often confuse this as being grumpy or not wanting to associate, but that is only a misunderstanding. Cahan is actually a really kind person if he finally gets his mouth open.

-on the app sheet the hilt of that sword should remind of a swallow. Cahan loves detail in his work
