Description USCGC Acacia is an Iris-class seagoing buoy tender built in 1944 as part of the 180ft series of ships.

Serving with the United States Coastguard the Acacia would see service in both the Great Lakes and on the Atlantic. in 1994 she would take part it in both policing and humanitarian operations during refugee crisis's in both Haiti and Cuba. She also took part in the US's attempt to restore Jean-Bertrand Aristide to the presidency of Haiti in 1995.

In 2006 after a 62 year career, Acacia would be retired and donated to the State of Illinois for the benefit of the American Academy of Industry who planned to turn her into a museum. By 2009 however the plan had failed and Acacia would instead be donated to the SS City of Milwaukee National Historic Landmark museum in Manistee, Michigan where it has been open since 2011.

I got to go aboard her this summer and she's kept in great shape.
