History is a bit unfair to Mr.Chamberlain. Documents were found, that he KNEW that there would be war but England wasn't yet ready to fight (especially the airforce)
So he bought his contry time to upgrade its military, so they were ready to fight if they had to...

At least Chamberlin admitted that he messed up and took the first step to defeating the Nazis, and with the horrors of The Great War  that ravaged an entire continent still fresh in people's memories, it's more understandable that he wanted to avoid war at all costs, as foolish as it was to try and appease the expansionist fascists.

Meanwhile, Obama isn't even doing anything with Iran. Not even a 'hey, stop that!', let alone putting sanctions on Iran who, like Nazi Germany, is a threat to the nations around it and even more so to its own people.

Chamberlain? Really? Wasn't he a conservative politician? Let's not forget that trying to compare selling parts of Czechoslovakia to Hitler to the nuclear issue in Iran is beyond idiotic as they are nothing alike.

bttlrp In reply to Conservatoons [2013-12-06 20:01:16 +0000 UTC]

You'd rather him start yet another pointless war for no reason and piss off the majority of the US public? I thought the whole fearmongering panic over Iran was based around their possibly using nukes on America in the first place. Why would you want to provoke them into doing exactly that? The current leader of Iran is actually a moderate, if you took this stance they would nuke the freaking shit out of America within like a day lmao

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Conservatoons In reply to bttlrp [2013-12-06 20:24:05 +0000 UTC]

He does it all the time.  Obama cares little about US public opinion.   Might as well prevent Muslim zealots from getting the bomb.

The current leader is not moderate.  Not in any way the West would use the term.

I really wish they would try.  It is the only way US media will take the zeal of radical Islam seriously.  They say they want us and Jews dead daily in their media yet we think they really don't mean it.

bttlrp In reply to Conservatoons [2013-12-06 22:02:33 +0000 UTC]

I'd just like to point out that of Conservatoons' three alternatives, only one might lead to war (Bombing enrichment sites), and another has already been in place, without causing a war (Economic sanctions).

There were many ways to deal with this threat, but Obama chose to send aid, lift sanctions, and for the most part, reward Iran for its belligerence. In doing so, not only did he throw any Middle-Eastern allies we have left under the bus, but he also ignored the pleas of our European allies who were against such lunacy.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

hooded-wanderer In reply to TeaToons [2013-12-09 04:33:30 +0000 UTC]

Uh, couple of problems with that. 1. The sanctions were only partially lifted, akin to that of 7 billion dollars of relief. That's a drop in the bucket compared to nearly $1 trillion  of Iran's GDP. Secondly, many Middle Eastern nations were in favor of the agreement, including U.S. backed allies Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, and even Saudi Arabia. www.aljazeera.com/news/middlee…  Third, most of the European governments were in favour of the deal, including Great Britain, Russia, and the EU. The only one who raised the most ruckus was France surprisingly enough, considering that the Socialists are running the government.

bttlrp In reply to TeaToons [2013-12-06 23:41:31 +0000 UTC]

"another has already been in place, without causing a war (Economic sanctions)."

I thought the concern was over the development of Iran's nuclear program, which they already had? What would sanctions have achieved? It would at best slow them down, but they are already generating a steady supply of uranium and are a resource-rich nation.

Sorry, but what else could have been done, given that the purpose of US intervention was to ensure Iran didn't develop nuclear missiles? Short of invading and starting a war, diplomacy was Obama's only choice.

I think there could be a stuxnet-type attack on US infrastructures, which would be pinned on Iran and justifie far greater control of the internet for "security" reasons. Not just active surveillance but the beginning of something lihe China's great firewall.

Obama shed a few crocodile tears on national television, decrying the Iranian betrayal and blame Iran for the economic crisis and failing infrastructures, ignoring that they have been left to fall appart for a while now www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClUdgm… www.youtube.com/watch?v=aA_rrd… , blaming Iran has essentially replacing blaming Bush at this point.
Generals and soldiers deemed untrustworthy are kept busy, sent to the middle-east while ones loyal to the "leadership of color" townhall.com/columnists/toddst… gets to remain in the continental USA.
Depending if Obama sees a rise of support like Bush did after 9/11, thought he´ll prolly get less, the massive shortage of soldiers in the continental USA and the medias-hysteria about renewed terrorist attacks prompts open preparations for the formation a Civilian National Security Force, ready to be raised on a short notice if needed and directly answerable to the pothead-in-chief.

Was thinking of a poster aimed at Millenials.

Dodged Vietnam draft, sends you to Iran!

A lot there.

I don't think he needs to get that tricky.  He has the media and Congress.  They are choosing not to oppose him and they are really the only ones who can stop him from doing whatever he wants.

Not a bad poster idea.
