We have a smoking ban in effect here in Ireland - you can smoke outside in public but it's banned indoors, before you'd see people lighting up in shops, restaurants etc. and it was a filthy habit especially when other people had to clean up after them

OH.MY.GOD. YES!

I hate how smoking is viewed as this horrible evil thing, it's a choice! Yes smoking may be bad for your health but so is being obese and I don't see people trying to demonizing them as much as they do the smokers

Good pt. But they are starting to demonize the fat. e.g. Michelle Obama's war on fat people.

Oh my, I have no idea whether to be more disturbed or amused! XD;;;

As much as I hate tobacco (mostly from having to be around a smoking dad all the time as a kid, until he quit), anti-smoking advocates disgust me more with their messed-up priorities. I can walk away from second hand smoke, or wave it away with my hand, a lot more easily than I can dodge cars with drunk drivers.

Fuck smokers, you choose to do something gross to yourself you should do it in the privacy of your own home.

Oh no, don't even try to make some sort of hypocrisy argument here. Smoking is not a religious practice or a harmless lifestyle. Even if you argue that second-hand smoke isn't dangerous, it smells. Disgusting. It irritates the eyes. The fouls the breath.

You wouldn't tolerate someone who came into a restaurant and wouldn't stop deliberately breaking wind because it makes them feel good. I'm not even going to bring up cancer here. Smoking is just filthy and doesn't belong anywhere but designated smoking locations.

I'd like to see it treated as harshly as pot, which I also won't tolerate anywhere near me to any degree.

I was just being a jerk because these cartoons rub me the wrong way. I don't care that much about smoking.

Nobody puts up with someone urinating in public, why should we put up with the rotten stink of cigs?

Slight confusion.
What is the point you're trying to make with this?

They're actually forbidding smoking to occur in the privately owned businesses of some states because it allegedly infringes upon the right of the employees and customers to be free from contact with the fumes.

Never mind that nobody is making them accept a job at a given facility or patronize an approved list of stores, that is until the same people demanding the bans get the opportunity. I guess it isn't important that shopkeepers and restaurant owners that don't sufficiently protect non-smokers lose employees and patrons anyway, either...

Yeah that galls me. It's happening here in Oregon. Much of the backing comes from non-smoking bars & restaraunts.

What irks me further is that nothing will satisfy the anti-smokers. There is no room or filtration system good enough to allow indoor smoking.
