If by serious you mean profitting, then you are right. Alas, if we are doing research by poll, then will conservatives simply cease to exists? guns? Americans?

What do you mean those that believe in man made global warming are the ones that are profiting? Much of the evidence against global warming comes from research funded by industries that are major polluters. I know that science isn't majority rules nor am I saying that it should be it. Science is governed by evidence and I haven't found any against man made global warming (and yes I have been looking).

What temp should the earth be? How long have we had data? why has it warmed & cooled to greater extremes w/o man? Why is the earth cooling now? Govt profits from GW by the carbon credit junk so they cut funding when a project does not support there goal. More & more are coming out against Man GW these days

All of those questions don't really punch any holes in man made global warming it just shows that you don't know much about it. Here's a video that might help though [link]

It is impossible to build a fence on the border, but I can save the planet by paying Al Gore? Maybe u live in that world. Not me.
If you can't see that GW is just a money grab then you are lost.

You're creating false dichotomies based on what you assume I'm telling you and completely ignore the evidence I was trying to show you with that video. Why bring up the boarder fence? You're just trying to distract from the topic at hand. I do not support the idea of carbon credits (if that's what you were impling with the paying Al Gore Comment) nor did I say that I did. While capping carbon admission is good, making carbon sequestration a profit driven thing would only cause more problems. You assume too much because you want to clump me together with your stereotype of people who disagree with you.
If we're going to continue this discussion further maybe we should do so via private messages as to not spam your comments page.

You've got to be kidding me. Global Warming is backed up by hard science. They were studying it for many years before concluding their findings. The top ten hottest records in human history have all been after 1990. Anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations have been at an all time high since their have been one car for every 5 people, and high amounts of pollution from tons of sources. If global warming is just a natural effect, why is their a direct link to the amount of pollutants people are throwing into our air, and the temperature. Throughout history until the 20th century coal, oil, and other resources weren't used because they didn't know what they did. Things in the environment stayed way more constant. Since the Industrial Revolution their have been dramatic changes in our environment. Could you not deny the human helping? Since 2000 their have been floods, droughts, hurricanes, packed up more in the last 5 years, then previously in the last 20. This is also connected with the high amounts of pollutants in our air.
Your well thought out argument? I do like some insight on your side of the thought process. Convince me scientifically that man has no impact.

Not to mention, it seems were only have records of a few decades. What about the weather 500 years ago?

Where do you get this? I weep for the future. The sun and water vapor are the biggest factors in the climate. Man has little control over either.

Are you stupid? OF COURSE there is natural rising and cooling. It happens slow over thousands of years in an exceedingly predictable pattern. This fast rising of temperature has happened in less then a hundred years, completely out of cycle. This type of warming isn't like natural warming.

One of his greatest deceptions was convincing the world that he doesn't exist. But humans are completely capable of all sorts of evil even without his influence, so I wonder sometimes if it really makes a difference whether or not we believe he exists in the first place.

Humans are capable of evil with the influence of god too, so I don't see what your point is. And if it doesn't make a difference whether or not we believe satan exists then why would he try to make people believe he doesn't exist? Just for kicks? He was bored? the petty soul game just isn't getting him off anymore?
by the way, you think god approves of inflation fetishes? I'm just curious.

It's not a fetish for me. All of my blub-related artwork is G-rated -- nothing that could be misconstrued as porn. There's nothing in the Ten Commandments prohibiting the artistic fattening of carto0n/anthro characters.
And if you're going to bring up gluttony, let me point out that only Catholics believe gluttony is a sin. It's actually not a sin, it's an abomination of the flesh that literally results in death (which is why the stuff represented in weight gain art should not be practiced in real life).
When you say that people do evil in the name of God, are you referencing human institutions such as inquisitions, crusades, and jihads? People who do evil in the name of the God of the Israelites are usually either false prophets or are possessed. For example, Hitler was backed by the white horsemen of the Catholic church.

LOL no, according to your religion everyone sins right? So basically you're saying they couldn't have been true christians because they did something wrong. But then that means there are no true christians. No true scotsman fallacy ftl

Okay, I guess that makes sense, being fat can kill you, but it kind of depends, I mean if you're a little overweight you're probably fine, but if you're obese it can give you immense health problems, but too much of anything can kill you.
I mean, technically, too much WATER could kill you too.

Actually I think man-made global warming exists, but we're not contributing nearly as much to it as the Earth itself does. Still, it's not a BAD thing to want to clean up the environment anyways.

No matter what, global warming helps the economy. It creates new jobs, stimulates the release of more gasoline-efficient cars, and encourages the construction of research facilities (which can be used for future generations).

No reasonable person would say it's bad to clean up the environment. However, it is hubris to think man's impact is so great. When did science conclude that the Earth's temperature was a constant? The sun and water vapor are the major variables. CO2 is a neglible factor, but it is the flavor of the month. Global Warming is the Reefer Maddness of its' era.

I actually sort of agree with you when you say it's foolish to think man's impact is that huge, considering that life on the planet has recovered from such massive extinction level events in the past. But wiping out entire species, polluting our own environment, etc, is pretty silly. We can't destroy the life on Earth completely, but we can certainly damage our own ecosystem quite a bit.

BloodstainHurricaneX In reply to Ryoga12311 [2007-10-28 00:53:15 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, killing off keystone species certainly does have an impact on the ecosystem, plus things we do to others or the environment can easily come back to haunt us.
There's this place downtown here, called "Love canal," awhile ago they buried a bunch of toxic waste there, and then later built a neighborhood on top of it and sold it to poor people, and they ended up becoming cancer-ridden from the toxins and if you visited there you could see people's hair falling out in chunks, and babies were born with deformities. Not pretty stuff
