Melanie shifted her focus to Tombs with Louie's performance on the decline. Her desire for those placing ribbons outweighed any reason to keep leasing the black stud from the stables. She'd move forward by purchasing Tombs from Briar Lake Stables private yearling sale and began training the young man for show jumping and cross country events. They've had some successfully green entries at SVI Monthly, which was mostly going over ground poles. It was at that time that Melanie chose to up their training, introducing Tombs to some jumps. They had been sailing through Melanie's training program when Tombs had sustained an injury a couple months in. It caused him to take a break from being ridden and Melanie had worked hard to get him a full recovery. She had to learn the hard way, that there's nothing wrong with taking things a little bit slower. Over the last 4 years, Melanie had decided that it was time to step back into the show arena. Not a week later she'd found a flyer for Paddy Bash 2023 in the cafe. Sure, dressage was far from her skill set, but the show seem to offer a laid back fun class with show jumping. The perfect opportunity to get their feet wet again. (211 words)

She'd missed the hustle and bustle of a good show. Although it was a little outside of the norm with all the dressage enthusiasts, it wasn't half bad! The headband and beads were such a fun addition, she couldn't help but to get a matching set for Tombs too. Logically, Melanie knew that Tombs could easily complete at the height she chose, and yet the nerves still ate away at her confidence. Tombs tried to offer come comfort with little nudges and nuzzles. None of it really appeared to have any effect on her. It wasn't until they were in the arena and Melanie had lined them up for the first jump in the course. Tombs took the jump with ease. When his hooves hit the ground, Melanie's nerves seemed to had jumped ship. Her muscles loosened up, a large smile appeared, and they started to find their wings again. (150 words)
