Overall I would like to say, that I really like the impression of this image.
Compared to the traditional work I would say that it lookes much better. I have nothing to say to the pose or propotions because I find it really good.
The thing are the shades. You should probable set your light source and then paint, so that you can imagine where the shades would fall and you would not forget about them (ex. the hair on the back should probably also cast a shadow).
If you want to draw a character in this style - which I think is pretty good - I would suggest also dark outline of hair and then drawing the hair in slightly different color, it would give the character much nicer look.
That's all from me. I'm looking forward to your future works e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

This is all well and good, but her hair is supposed to be like that. It swallows all light because it's an extension of her true form:  which is basically just sentient Dark Matter in the silhouette of a woman....

Thanks! You don't have to apologize; there was no way you could have known

I think you did a really fantastic job on the colors and the subtle shading.  The pants in particular are detailed well.  I also really like the eyes and especially the hair.  I would say do some more studies on clothing.  Even just looking at stock photos can help.  Also, you copped out on the hands and feet!  Lots of artists really struggle with hands and feet, though.  The way that I got out of it was lots and lots of studies.  I would literally look at pictures of hands and feet in different positions online.  If I couldn't find a particular pose online, I would just sit in front of a mirror and practice.
