I actually like Mars Attacks. Just like Ed Wood but in a completely different style, Burton showcased here his love for 50's genre cinema, this time mixed with some 60's star-filled comedy extravaganza spirit, a la It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (which happens to be a movie I love).
Also, in some ways this was 'my' Tim Burton Movie, as it came out in 1996 and I was 8 at the time. A perfect age to start paying attention to the movies that went out and an even more perfect age to appreciate the pleasures of seeing familiar faces (MY Marty McFly!) turned into green skeletons. I really burned that VHS tape.
