I don't fancy Tony Jaa so much any more...but I'm rather impressed with this. Man, what a great job!

Th extreme sports part was really weak. They're all up in the warehouse and then...skaters come from every part of town to do battle with him. It was super-cheesey in a bad way. Also, the guy has, like, no charisma. Jet Li and Jackie Chan have a certain presence to them that Tony Jaa just doesn't. Maybe when he gets some more acting under his belt he'll turn out better.
As for the fighting, I was blown away with his brutal style, but I really think they've overexposed him in the last movie. It's less brutal and more campy, to me.
Anyway, you're really talented!

I agree with you, that scene looked like it was copied from some video game, like Streets of Rage or something, with skating thugs coming at him, and the dudes in the bikes, and what not. Not that good. And overall Tom Yum Goon wasn't that good also - I liked Ong Bak so much more. They probably had a bigger budget for this second movie and just focused on putting in scenes as crazy as possible and filming on more expensive locations, which kind of took away from the simplicity of Ong Bak. In Ong Bak you could really just focus on his fighting style, that is pretty brutal and a novelty of sorts. There's not many movies featuring Muay Thai as the main fighting style, so I guess people were pretty blown away by the scenes, it was new and hardly ever seen before.
He's a terrific athlete, from what I've seen in the movies, but I also agree, he's not that good as an actor. That being said, I don't really appreciate any of Jackie Chan's latest movies, he's just become to... hollywoodized, perhaps. Jet Li does some good stuff though. I loved Danny the Dog. I guess it's not easy to find a good athlete who is also a good actor, I don't know, but maybe he'll grow to become one!
And thanks again! and sorry for this huge comment... sometimes I write too much hehe

Yeah, you usually have one or the other. That's why I feel Jaa won't be a super star. Jackie Chan and Jet Li came out as monsters right from the beginning. I'm kinda sad that Donnie didn't see too much success in the US, though. He was in, what, Blade 2 and Hero? C'mon. Give that man some screen time.

lol, It'd be pretty fun to see~ I bet Chuck'd be all "WTF?! D:" XD
Oh~~ see... I'm totally lame when it comes to remembering the actual titles of things... or even learning them for that matter. XD
Yea, Ong Bak was better~ The story line and everything was better I think, although he had more chances to show that he could easily kill you with an easer and string if he wanted to in The Protector... I KNOW~ *3* I wanna see what else he can do~ He's so cool!

awwww you called me person again
You must see it!
Ainda me ri sozinha. O vilão desse filme tinha um mau aspecto do catano :\ esse teu link também está do belo... as horas que ele deve ter treinado para conseguir essa expressão facial
thanks so much for the comment AND favorite, Mr. Cosmic!
