Here is a picture that I did as part of the 17th Birthday Challenge project here on DeviantArt, which is a picture of a Japanese miko (or shrine maiden, to the layman) looking at a bunch of colorful butterflies while relaxing outside. Because I wasn't too busy doing anything else at the time, I decided to take the opportunity to draw a picture as part of an art project to celebrate the 17th birthday of the website, which involves drawing a picture while using a template that is provided, and everyone who participates will be able to receive a new badge for their profile page. Since I don't actually draw my pictures digitally except when coloring them in, I was allowed to print off an image of the template on paper so that I can draw my idea using pencil and ink before scanning the picture and coloring it in afterwards. I'll admit, I kinda had a hard time figuring out what to draw due to the template having a humanlike shape to the design, since I've always preferred drawing anthro animal characters a lot more than human characters nowadays, but I decided to come up with something clever based on my own personal interests and giving it a shot. For this picture I've done, I was able to draw a Japanese girl in her shrine maiden outfit sitting by herself with a cat sleeping close to her while in an outdoor setting behind a bush, and she can be seen looking up at a bunch of colorful butterflies that are flying above her towards the sky. When I was coloring the picture in, I was able to use a couple of detailed textures for the scenery as well as the cloudy sky in the background. The picture turned out very nice after being completed, and it's sure to please my friends and everyone else as well.
