Description I've made a bid for the Agis already and I really want the mutation BUT there are some fantastic art bids for it, so I risk lessening my chances for her by putting a bid for this guy - however this boy is gorgeous. I've been searching for a flaxen pangare chestnut and this boy is spot on! If I can't get the Agis I'd love a chance for this guy. So... Without further a due  here he is:

He had always know he was different.  Born to be yet another lead stallion, guarding his herd... And at the ripe age of five he did have a heard of his own herd of 6 mares and two foals to take care of. The foals weren't his though. They just came with the mares. This life wasn't really doing it for him. He loved to brawl and was a good fighter. Being a brawler that fought well had landed him with his own herd whether he wanted it or not. He wanted adventure! He always wondered what it would be like to cooperate with different species. He saw that sometimes. Humans atop horses and side by side dogs, out hunting for those pesky dragons. Most of his herd mates feared to be captured and forced to carry a human on their back. Not he, he yearned for it. One that would give him adventure! He too wanted to hunt dragons!

Two days ago he lost his heard. First fight he had lost. Ever! He should feel really humiliated and mad about it but truth to be told he felt liberated. The stallion who beat him was huge! Now he himself was impressive. Not extremely tall, only measuring 15 HH at the shoulder. But he was muscular, charismatic and butch. His neck was massive, making his silky mane rise in a crest. Had his mane been shorter it would stand in  the war cut he had seen on tame horses by itself. The stallion who stole his heard was almost 18 HH, black as night with peacock markings in mane and tail. It's herd was almost 100 horses large and they all seemed to be treated good. It was certainly a stallion who took his job serious. Not like he himself did. Longing to throw himself into the fray instead of leading a herd in flight. So losing was the best thing for all parts concerned.

He felt a bit lonely though. Seeking the company of any animal. The bunnies that were so many in this part of the lands must think he was harassing them. He waded deep into a stream to drink, while watching fishes swim around his feet when he suddenly got an idea! Every year around this time they had always had to seek shelter in the high mountains because humans rounded up wild nordanners to be tamed and sold at auctions. This year, all he had to do was stay here down in the valley lands, track the humans down and then do a poor job of not getting caught - showing enough cunning and fierceness for them to be impressed despite him being captured. Then maybe he would find his true place in life!

And that is how this beautiful stallion became Winter Import No. 597

This is really cool, I totally love how you animate your traditional works!
There are so much to look at and admire in this picture, I could stare this for ages!
Horse's anatomy is also spot on.

Good luck in the auction!

Thank you! The story was actually written to match the bid of one of my competitors, like a prelude to this bid:

I figured, whoever wins will benefit if the pictures had some common theme.

You think so? Thank you. I redid the water part 3 times in different ways and is not totally happy about it yet but the art auction has a deadline so I was afraid I'd miss the  deadline if I kept worrying about the details.
