I have been pointed out at being able to paint very convicing eyes. For this reason a number of people have asked me to make an eye tutorial. As you go through the tutorial you will discover there is nothing fancy about what I do and this is infact a quick eye.

I use Photoshop 7.0 for my paintings but as you can see the same concepts can be used for just about any medium. I only use the brush tools and evn then kept all my brushes at 100% opacity while creating this tutorial. I highly recomend two things to anyone who wishes to use this tutorial that I did not address, the first is opacity or pressure, always vary it for the greatest effect. Lastly referances, I can't stress that enough. The greater your referance the better your eye or whatever will turn out. For this tutorial I used a photo from a book, the eye itself in print was about 3 by 2 inches. I also had the book open and laying beside my computer the whole time, don't make up anything about the eye unless you truely understand the makings of an eye or the body part you have to 'make up.'

I hope this will better explain how I create my eyes. I only spent about 30 minutes on the whole things so I even admit it's not my best eye but I believe it helps show the process.
