Description Yes, I know: The title change is awful! But if that's what it's called...

Anyway, this is a reworking of a picture I did of Rapunzel a while ago. I made it a look closer to the actual design (as far as I can tell.) I really think I'm gonna like this character even tho it's Mandy Moore. We'll just have to wait and see when the movie comes out!

I honestly think this movie will be good. I mean I really wish peope would stop complaining over the fact that the movie will be in CGI. I mean to me that's just as bad as Old School Sonic fans complaining that Sonic4 will suck because of Sonic's new design, and modern style graphics.

Very nice.

Also, I don't know about you, but when I first saw the trailer in theaters, I could've sworn the main guy (Flynn, am I right?) looked like someone straight out of Soulcalibur.

It's a series of weapon-based fighting games taking place in the 16th century.

The two latest games in the series (Soulcalibur III & IV, for the record, I have IV) give you the ability to create your own characters, and coincidentally, several Disney characters can easily made.

Gorgeous picture! I'm so looking forward to seeing this movie. I was dissappointed at first when I heard Kristin was replaced by Mandy. I had only heard one song of Mandy's (I think she was fifteen or so when she recorded it) and hated it a lot. Still, I decided to listen to some of the songs from the movie A Walk to Remember. Ever since, I've become a huge fan. I'm holding out hope that Kristin will get a Princess role of her own, but I think Mandy will do a wonderful job.

Cor104 In reply to DracheaRannak [2010-03-01 19:57:02 +0000 UTC]

I think Disney has always planned on making a Rapunzel movie in CG since the idea first came up. The title change was (presumably) to attract a larger audience. Disney thought that "The Princess and the Frog" didn't do well at the box office because young male viewers didn't want to see a "Princess" movie. I find that ridiculous but I think that's the reasoning.

From what I have read and seen online concerning the project the story focuses on Flynn, a theif, and Rapunzel. Disney has been struggling with the story for years I think. Originally the working title was "Rapunzel: Unbraided" and it was about a real life boy and girl who get transported into the fairy tale of "Rapunzel." Luckily Disney decided to go for a more classic telling of the fairy tale but is still making alot of changes. Disney is trying to make the movie more of an adventure than a romance to get young males interested. And that's basically all I know!

Hm... makes sense but again... I think its a formula for tragedy to want to capture ALL the public from guys on their 20s to little 9 years old. Disney became HUGE with its Princess Movies after all.
By the way I cant just not mention how much I LOVE your icon since Lottie was the only thing I liked about that movie. I plan to draw her soon.

Also... I noticed you did some quality art for Aida... whats with that? I remember being a kid on the early 90s hearing about the movies coming up while the Little Mermaid was being advertised and they would be like: Beauty and the beast, Aladdin, AIDA.

Were they talking about the musical or they just held the production for some reason?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cor104 In reply to DracheaRannak [2010-03-01 20:14:48 +0000 UTC]

I agree completely! I love the Disney fairy tales!

I love Lottie too, as you can tell, she's a dorable! I would love to see Lottie in your style! That would be awesome!

Aida. Disney accquired the rights to a storybook version of the Verdi Opera back in the early 90s (I think)and they planned on producing an animated film based on it. Here's some concept art: [link] I think that Disney decied that the story was to mature for an animated film so they shut down production. Somehow in the late 90's Elton John decided that he would like to make a musical version of "Aida" and colaborated with Disney to create the Broadway production. Disney had already has great success on Broadway with "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Lion King" and they saw potential in "Aida" for a musical. The musical had a good run but closed a few years ago. It's rumored that Disney is now planning a live action verson of the musical, but no official news on the matter.

How lame... Id love to see that movie... besides Disney has that ability to overlook deep matters such racism on the 20s? So how come could be Aida be a matter for them?

To me, it seems like Disney is trying out a lot of new things with this film so changing the title seems fitting with all the changes going on.

I'm personally really excited for it and I think people shouldn't criticize it too quickly because we haven't gotten that much information about it.

Lovely sketch though, I love how the hair looks shiny

I don't like the new title that much; it lacks the classic Disney charm.
But anyway, this is a cute picture. I love how her hair is acting as a frame.

Thank you! I think Disney should just stick to the "classic" title of the story like "The Little Mermaid" or "Cinderella."

I had fun with the hair here!

Personally, I'm liking the new title. Sure, I would have prefered Rapunzel, but Tangled doesn't sound too bad.

I really can't wait to see this film! The characters look great and the animation sure looks promising.
