Still trying to get out of my artistic block!Also I've been listening to Love Never Dies (the Phantom of the Opera sequel) alot. I was opposed to this idea from the beggining and still am. I bought the soundtrack out of curiosity only. I will admit that there are a few worthwhile songs (Til I Hear You Sing, Beneath A Moonless Sky, and Love Never Dies) but as a whole Love Never Dies is pure rubbish. The timeline is wrong, characters have been completely changed...and it just isn't as grand as a story about the Phantom should be. And the ending...What is up with that! lol
I'm very dissapointed in sir Andrew Lloyd Webber.
So here we have some good old mysterious phantom art! haha It' been a while since I've done any Phantom stuff! I hate to admit this but this picture was kinda based on the song Beneath A Moonless Sky.

I agree with you completely about Love Never Dies! Everything I have read/seen/heard about it sounds abdsurd! Everything is totally out of character! It's like the show is about a whole different set of people! Makes no sense! I only liked two of the songs I've heard. It just was super disappointing!
I do love your picture! I especially like that you used the two different colored eyes like they used to do on Michael Crawford in the original one. You don't see that very often anymore. Looking good!

I agree with you about "Love Never Dies," though I hear that the Australian production is quite good. Your illustration is wonderful and full of expression.

I have to say I'm so much excited about LND after seeing POTO in London, as I can barely imagine how it would look SPECTACULAR on stage. And Ramin and Sierra are just so perfect together, I'd really like to see the show somehow!

LND had its official opening night March 9 and that is also when the soundtrack was released.

Wow, I feel extremely silly now. Do they have a schedule out as to when it will be coming to Chicago? Even though I knew it would not live up to Phantom, I still want to see it, just for the fun of going to see a show. It's been a while since I last went to the city.

It just opened in London and is not set to open in New York till November. So it will probly be a few years before it even starts a tour...if the show lasts that long...

I agree. I love ALW, but this new show...hmm. I agree with your song choices too, I really enjoy thr "beautiful" melody aswell...and gah...the ending ): Nothing can beat the genius of the one and only Phantom, even Andrew himself:S Oh well, I'm still going to go see it and learn the music off by heart

I actually love the story and music (I'm a longtime superfan of Ramin Karimloo too), but I HATE that it's a sequel to Phantom and that the characters are supposed to be the same ones. It would be much better as standalone, and that's what I think of it as when I listen to it.

I just got the soundtrack and almost know it by heart.
Speaking as possibly one of Phantom's most devoted phans, I was opposed to Love Never Dies from the start because of rumours it would be based off of The Phantom of Manhattan. However, I really do like the way it has turned out, although I will be the first to say the Meg subplot was really rather silly. Otherwise, Love Never Dies and ALW have my full support. Cheers!

One of the things that bugged me the most is that the show is official set in 1907 and they claim it is 10 years after the original...its really 26 years...something I was shocked Webber overlooked...or even worse, didn't care about.

Yes, but the original novel was set later than the musical, mind you. But that aside, at least it's not a HUGE HUGE HUGE time stretch, like, if you're an Anne of Green Gables fan, how they jumped from the Edwardian Era to World War I (like FIFTY years D

Andrew Lloyd Webber specifically said that LND is meant as a sequel to the musical NOT the novel.

Oh, I know. Just thought I'd throw that in; ALW's ignored the time period before so he's not going to have any qualms now. Anyways the time period is a minor qualm compared to the manifold other criticisms laid at Love Never Dies's door.
