Actually I think mermaids can't really exist, at least in the fashion of staying under water for very long periods of time. The human skin would...eventually disintegrate if it was under water long enough. Sorry, I just thought of that.

I probably would have worded it differently had I done it today. If nothing else just to make it clearer that he's comparing her to an ideal standard... and she doesn't quite meet it.
