Description There's tons of people out there who have escaped there past problems by suppressing them so far within there minds to a point where its almost like they've never even happened. This guys just couldn't seemed to achieve such a dream. I'm a big fan of the hulk that started up in the early 80's with Bruce being abused as a child and having (DiD) which is basically a spit personality .
I feel that the reason Hulk is so strong and so perpetually enraged is because of Bruce’s strong inner emotional agony and Rage from his past.
To me Hulk is like a living personification of Bruces inner self. This Wild, Montruos, Powerful sudconcious bomb that has basically exploded. This Bruce here would probably be one who seems to not only be running from a murder he didn't commit or Lieutenant Striker’s men but possibly this beast that lies within him as well. Even though he know’s that’s pretty much impossible. Hulk is partly who he is.
..But What do you guys feel?

WARNING! Carry on reading! Or you will die, even if you only looked at the word warning!
Once there was a little girl called Clarissa, she was ten-years-old and she lived in a mental
hospital, because she killed her mom and her dad. She got so bad she went to kill all the
staff in the hospital so the More-government decided that best idea was to get rid of her so
they set up a special room to kill her, as humane as possible but it went wrong the
machine they were using went wrong. And she sat there in agony for hours until she died.
Now every week on the day of her death she returns to the person that reads this letter, on
a Monday night at 12:00 a.m. She creeps into your room and kills you slowly, by cutting you
and watching you bleed to death. Now send this to ten other pictures on this one site, and
she will haunt someone else who doesn't. This isn't fake. apparently, if you copy and paste
this to ten comments in the next ten minutes you will have the best day of your life tomorrow. You
will either get kissed or asked out, if you break this chain u will see a little dead girl in your room ( Im sorry i got scared ;-; ) yo im sorry

Loved you explaination of the hulk, as I'm a massive fan of Peter David, although for me, the ultimate hulk is The Professor. All the issues of Banner in one green mass. It was much more interesting seeing that guy learn to accept himself, than the usual Jekyll and Hyde story. Although to be fair anything is better than the red hulls/skate thing that's currently going

Very spot on rendition of the Hulk, and the description best describes the total character. But here's the nice thing I've admired about him: no matter how ferocious the Hulk gets, he is just as good-hearted as Bruce Banner, and always end up protecting the innocent and saving the day.

I never liked how the comics or some adaptations made the Hulk talk or emote. He works better much more like an animal and not simply shouting "PUNY" and "HULK MAD!". I like it better when its more ambiguous; you know this green angry giant is very different from the humble doctor, yet every now and then a hint is given that they really may be the same.

Your thoughts remind me of the Ultimate Grey Hulk's deal. Basically the Grey Hulk is what happened when Banner added the Captain America super soldier serum in the mix, and this Hulk is Banner's emotions fully released. He practically confesses just how horny Betty Ross made him feel when Hulk was going after her.

How do you feel about the new Hulk from the Avengers?

Garchompisbeast [2012-02-29 20:54:59 +0000 UTC]

personally i believe that the Hulk is a separate entity in Banners mind awaken by the gamma blast, in several series the Hulk has been portrayed with his own thoughts and emotions (the series when he's not constantly angry), in Avengers: earth's mightiest heroes Banner and Hulk are completely separate and change from will instead of emotion

Banner has issues. I haven't read the Peter David stuff yet, but I know he has issues. I think the emergence of Hulks in recent times have proven that the Gamma isn't the Problem; Bruce is the Problem

I'm not really familiar with the Hulk, so I find your portrayal of him to be much more interesting than the usual loses his tempers, becomes a mostly mindless brute.

There's never really any real character development in mainstream comics these days...the characters are just too old and they have to keep making stories about them.

To me, the ideal development of Bruce Banner is that he will eventually stop running away, and learn to accept his other half. Perhaps through some special method, he can learn to connect with the Hulk and help the big green become a better hero, and the two could even bond as "brothers" or something. Hulk may be huge, but he seems more like a "little" brother to the Doctor.

Metrilean In reply to SketchySG [2011-12-05 21:31:35 +0000 UTC]

Interesting interpretation but do you think that if hulk and banner were "brothers", should Betty Ross stay dead?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SketchySG In reply to Metrilean [2011-12-08 20:56:14 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure. Seems like Betty Ross is the romantic interest of the doctor; the Hulk would just have a platonic, child-esque fondness of her, no real romance from the Big Green, he's not intelligent enough to understand that.

I should perhaps shed some light on that "brothers" idea: I was assuming that, if the characters were faced with actual character development, it would be very interesting to see the two personalities gradually stop being in conflict and find a truly unique bond...which could relate to how in a theoretical case of DID, the "therapy" is in helping the fractured personality become whole. If the doctor can learn to stop running away from his issues, and the beast can find a way to control his emotions and power...it could happen.

Would Bruce Banner and the Hulk eventually merge into a single being? Who knows.

Metrilean In reply to SketchySG [2011-12-09 22:03:27 +0000 UTC]

I was thinking that the death of Betty Ross would serve as a continuing source of guilt and despair for the hulk and banner, serving to further define each as a monster in the others eyes.

SketchySG In reply to Metrilean [2011-12-09 22:47:49 +0000 UTC]

ah, that would be a tragic turn of events. It would hurt both of them, I'm sure, and could go either way.

Metrilean In reply to SketchySG [2011-12-11 08:06:07 +0000 UTC]

Therefore Betty Ross should have stayed dead,to further emphasize the burden of the beast.

I feel like the Hulk keeps being portrayed more as a monster than a good guy in the comics. There's almost no clear character development for these two, why is that? That's the problem with these big comic series; they are so long-running, there's no room for specific characterization.

To me, the Hulk is fearsome, but he's Bruce Banner's other self. And, at his core, Doctor Banner is a good person, so why shouldn't the Big Green be? He wants to be a hero, and definitely tries to protect folks. It's just that he looks scary and its Hulk's struggle to prove he's good.

Also it seems like a unique relationship could form btwn the 2 personalities. Maybe they don't like each other at first, but as time goes on they begin to bond like brothers, each gaining something from the other. It's a superhero team unlike any other, I say!

Ah, one of my favorite superheroes.

I like the idea of the Hulk being more like an extension of Banner's personality that he's locked away due to his dark past. The older comics are confusing how they try to create multiple hulks, or have him be a seperate person. Banner's goal should be to make peace with himself, so both the doctor and the monster can be one again.
