White Sands National Park
New Mexico

17 miles south of Alamogordo New Mexico

the sand is pure gypsum. It's a good thing its a national park or they just would have used it to make sheetrock in all the houses in the US.

thanks. I love taking them. There is something surreal and magical about dunes. They are like water in uberslomo. The way the light plays off them is amazing. Dunes are just a great canvas to work on. You can experience so many moods looking at them -- their shape, their flow -- the frozen ripples on their surface.

Not bad, but I would have liked a lower ISO and a slower shutter speed.

I just tweaked it in photoshop. for some reason, the ISO does not show up in the browser. I'll have to look into that. I don't know what it set on. I usually try to shoot it at the lowest setting because I don't like the noise it introduces into shots.

I was trying out a variety of shutter speeds in all that whiteness. The sky was overcast, and so I had an abundance of diffused whiteness from above, and a ton of it from below. It's a fun place to shoot pictures. but you've got to work it. That and the fact that whenever I am shooting there, I always have between 11 and 15 teenagers with me on a church road trip.
