If you haven't looked at the Eric Shanower/Skottie Young 'Oz' graphic novels, do yourself a favor and buy them both! You would absolutely love them, I think. Right up your alley. It's like comics as children's books. I see your Scarecrow and it reminds me of Skottie's 'Jack Pumpkinhead.'
