Description Revamp after almost 3 years, now with better stamps!!
The one in the process pics was a gift for =masolulu uwu

Things to cover next time:
- carving text
- how to attack details
- more eraser brand comparison HUFFS
- better image transfer
- white space removal (which I'm still terrible at)
- gradientssssssssssssss

Yeah I said I'd cover some other things but I...forgot and it was already over 16k pixels long.........._(:'
I have most of the photos I need so I just need to...arrange them...and talk...about them............................
So for now it's just the basic process. The older version is still relevant in that it talks about...well...the reasoning behind some things...which I was planning to talk about eventually but haven't done yet. Yes.

Incidentally here's my stamps tumblr .

I picked up most of the basic stuff hanging around Pixiv, though it's been about 3 years?? since I started carving??? I think????? but I do it only when I feel like it so I'm not terribly good at it yet _(:' I'd like more friends who are into it!!

Thats quite a nice Tutorial
I really want to try this out now

That's an amazing stampyou used as example, it is so detailed *__* How long did it take you to do this?

Thank you, I'll be glad if you do give it a try!! \o/

I don't remember how long it took (but it was long enough to make my neck hurt from looking down)...in general it usually depends on how enthusiastic I am about working on the particular stamp (besides the size and detail) so it could be anywhere between 2-4 hours maybe?

Hi!! I'm thinking about making a stamp for a friend from abroad and I wanna ask, how long this stamps last? I don't want them to crumble after a year of usage, you know. What do you recommend?

Marvelous tutorial btw! can't wait to try ^^

Hey! I actually have no idea how long they'll last with constant use - I have stuff from 3 years ago made with the Daiso blocks that are still in good condition, but I haven't been using them regularly. I imagine it depends on the brand you're using and how you take care of it (keep the stamp side upwards, always clean well after use, keep out of direct sunlight...), that's about all I know though. If you're looking for a safe option I'd suggest going for one of the more expensive blocks (Horunabi or Hankeshikun), though I *think* anything specifically for carving stamps should last pretty well.

Thank you! Have fun

3 years sounds good enough I'll advise him to keep it clean then.Β

SherrIock [2013-10-07 22:02:02 +0000 UTC]

ahh this looks really fun and interesting!!

I'll have to go for a scouting trip for some of the tools and a large enough rubber (and tracing paper and a kneading eraser)Β

how much are the tools/kneading erasers around, if you know???

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

corowne In reply to SherrIock [2013-10-08 17:34:04 +0000 UTC]

I hope you have fun!! *w*
Over here I can get almost everything listed for SGD$2 each...ofc the quality isn't the best but it's easy to start off with and replace with better tools once you decide you like it. The kneadable eraser I'm using came from a set so I don't know the individual price, though I'm pretty sure art stores sell them fairly cheap- the only thing that I shelled out for was the smaller penknife, though that was on a whim. Check out what you can find in stores on your side, I guess?
